Hey guys I am just wondering if its too late to start applying for the 2006. I still have not submitted my AADSAS application, but if I did in two weeks would it bee too late for me to get in? I have a 3.93GPA, and with the MCAT coming up in August, I would only get the chance to take the DAT sometime in September.
Did I miss the boat? :scared:

he/she might want both........ "M.D., D.M.D"......its nice to have a lot of D's and M's at the end of your name 😛 . I have a classmate who is an M.D surgeon, and now he is a freshman in dental school with me!

Do you want to be a dentist or a physician?

It is definitely not too late...yet, but you need to take the DAT asap.

You also should find out what you want to be when you grow up...

Well I'm kinda split on the whole thing. I figure if I don't do so well on the MCAT that will just take care of the MD option on its own. But do u guys think that taking the DAT in September would not be too late?

Yea its way too late now.

Try next year and take some graduate classes to raise your gpa.

don't apply into a profession predicated upon it being a "Back-up" plan.

many US schools require shadowing hours...

If you aren't serious about med school...take the DAT tomorrow. Then make up your mind if you want to be a dentist.

Contrary to popular belief, If you do well on the DAT and have a 3.93 GPA, you can still get in if you apply in AUGUST...don't push your luck too much though. For the record, I would say a September DAT date is definitely "pushing your luck."

Don't listen to advice to "raise your GPA" either...like grad classes are going to raise your GPA past a 3.93...

August?

Cripes alive, man, I applied the day after Christmas. Seems to have worked out OK.

I just started my application yesterday. It probably won't be complete until the end of August.

I know it's not helping my chances, but I'm a very busy guy due to working more than 40 hours per week and being enrolled in summer classes.

I had decided to push back applying until the 2007 cycle because I was worried that applying late might ruin my chances, but then I recently decided that I should apply to my top choice this year and see what happens.

I am not saying the OP is late, but with nearly 50% of in-state applicants being able to matriculate into IU, it may be Ok for residents to apply that late to that school and still get in but thats not the case for every school. UMKC, for example, stops interviewing in November. IU also did not grant interviews for out of state applicants who applied from Septermeber on wards.
