Even though I'm submitting my aadsas application in next weekend...I'm signed up to DAT August 1st...is this too late or should I wait next year to apply? I feel like I really need this extra time to study and ace it, so I don't want to take it any earlier (I just wanna take it once and do good, don't want to rush it)

My overall GPA is 3.72 and my science GPA is probably like 3.4 (should've been way higher but my first semester I screwed up and got a F in a bio 101 class since I slacked off and retook it and got a C so i have a D average which is bringing my sciGPA down, however, following that I have got all A's in ALL my biology/ochem/and every other eng/psy/etc class, except biochem B+ and physics B. I am a double major in Biology/Psychology, I have amazing extra curricula's (400+), amazing leadership, and shadowed a dentist for 1.5 yrs (200+ hours) and I have been doing research since January.

Any advice as to if I should wait to apply next year? or should i risk it and apply...? I just want to lock in some interviews before December....:xf:

My friend took his DAT in August too. He did not have all the amazing extracurricular activities you have and his GPA wasn't incredible but he got waitlisted and eventually got into dental school for this fall. I truly think you are doing the right thing by not rushing the DAT so you ace it the first time...so just trying to provide you with hope that you can get in this cycle if you try.

same boat here,

I applied DAT on July 12 but I don't think I can finish it by then,

I probably reschedule it on Aug 9 or I will retake it later after I do it on July..

my advisor said taking DAT on Aug is not late at all, but everyone except my advisor said it is too late and I am confused now...

I am 50% done of everything ( 30% on reading )

and I am not sure if I can make it around 90% until July......

Advice my situation too

you are not late...People on SDN are uptight and usually believe the following...

Without a 3.75, 21, and amazing ECs, shadowing, and research you will fail in dental school.

You are fine. Take everything on here with a grain of salt. Some people are here to help, some to troll, and some are here to stroke their egos.
