  1. Pre-Dental

I am a sophomore English/International Studies major in college.
I was Pre-dent but at the beginning of the semester but I had an emotional breakdown and a lot of confusion about career choice so I decided to change the pre-dent concentration.
So far I have taken one full year of bio with lab, and have a 2.8 science gpa for that first year.
This year I was in physics and chemistry but I withdrew from both courses earlier in the semester. I also have a withdrawal from a calc class (iM Horrible at math) last year (that i retook and did well in)....
(iM Horrible at math)
Now I realize that I have made a huge mistake switching career choices and am wondering if its too late to bother trying to go back to dentistry. I was planning on taking chemistry over next semester and then chemistry 2 and physics 1 over the summer.
I wonder if I show significant improvement until the time it is to apply for dental school will they focus on the negative semester, or will they notice my great improvement? Do you think if I truly apply myself and do well from here on out that I still have a chance of getting into dental school? Despite my past?

I also have a lot of extra currics and volunteering. I am also in a lot of leadership positions and have shadowed.

Its tough not to let the worry get to you but you are still in a good position because you have alot of classes to take. Here's my advice: GET A OR HIGH B IN EVERY SINGLE PREQUISITE COURSE and STUDY YOUR A OFF FOR THE DAT AND GET AT LEAST AN OVERALL 18/19. I ended up with barely a 3.0 gpa and got an overall 18 and I have 4 interviews from the 6 schools I've heard back from so far. Also, I would suggest applying after you graduate so that you have the highest GPA from all of the science classes you're going to take and your degree to boot. Hope that helps. I know its difficult but STAY POSITIVE and show that you want to be a dentist by performing well these next couple of years.
