I have a 3.36 GPA and got a 19 on the canadian dat and now am writing the american dat again. Are 20 schools too many to apply to?

THanks in advance.

Hey,

Before you apply - check the stats of schools and see if they all accept canadian students. Then check their avg GPA/DAT. I applied to a lot of schools, and I knew that some schools only take a few out of state students, I still applied --- which is probably not a good idea. I did spend a lot of money which I could have saved. Anyways, make a wise decision, apply to those schools where you want to go, where you know you can be accepted ! Just make sure you finish all of your secondaries because I got very lazy writing all those assays and purposely skipped the secondaries of a few schools. ANyways, I got into a school so Good Luck, just work hard and it will be paid off later.

I totally agree, be very careful when picking schools, and be sure to watch out for their out of state ratios. I didn't go with any school that had less than like 40% out of state. Oh, and I applied to 23 schools because I applied late (Nov), and yeah, it's expensive, but in the long run it's a drop in the bucket - but just don't get too wasteful and apply to every Texas school or something. 🙂

It is too much to apply to 20 schools as a Canadian applicant, because there aren't 20 schools that are Canadian-friendly. This list is not comprehensive, but to my knowledge, the schools that are Canadian/International applicant friendly are: NYU, Tufts, BU, USC, UoP, Temple, Buffalo, Detroit Mercy, Pitt, Penn, Case, Nova, Columbia, Indiana, Minnesota, and Michigan, and if you are an Canadian/International applicant, you should limit yourself to applying to only these schools, if your stats are within their range.

Yes I am a Canadian student. Thanks for the comprehensive list.

Good God, have some faith in yourself! Also be aware that each dental school can see how many and which other dental schools you've applied to. I applied to two schools and got into my first choice school. Best of luck!

Midwestern has a strong canuck contingent. add that to your list! also remember that you can't get into any school that you don't apply to. i applied to 23...in retrospect i wish i would have narrowed it down to 16-20 only because it was hard to keep up w/ the phone calls, emails, secondary apps, photos, etc etc. if time and money aint a thing then do it tho!

While Midwestern does accept Canadian students, they do not consider the Canadian DAT
