My AACOMAS are cGPA 3.51 and sGPA 3.71. If I retake my ecology course and earn an A I can bump the GPAs to 3.57 and 3.86. Prior to doing the calculation I had written off doing this as I felt the 3.71 was strong, but now that I see the change will be .15 I'm thinking about considering it.

What do you think? It would cost 750 out of pocket to take the course and it will take away from MCAT prep. Worth it?

Wow that's a pretty big bump in both cGPA and sGPA. Did you get below a C in the course? I'm not sure if schools care about grades below a C, other than for pre-reqs, so that might be worth looking into incase it's frowned upon.

If it takes away from MCAT prep then absolutely not. Your gpas will not hold you back in any way. If it fits into your schedule, for example you take ecology rather than another class needed to graduate, and take the class you are replacing later, then go for it. But do not add an unnecessary burden to yourself while preparing for this important test.

Only do my suggestion of postponing a class needed to graduate to take ecology if you can still graduate on time, or before needed to matriculate for your application cycle.
