Hey guys.

So I have my first interview coming up in a few weeks and I'm planing on doing a little more shadowing once or twice before then so that, if it comes up in the interview, I can say that I'm still shadowing every now and then and adding a few more hours to my total shadowing experience.

Anyways, I was thinking about shadowing this dentist who I got most of my hours from so I can maybe ask him for a LOR since he's had a lot of experience with me. But my questions is, would getting any more LOR do anything at this point in the cycle?

I haven't heard back from most of my dental schools so I was wondering whether it's possible to just throw in another LOR under their noses and see if it would help me.

Thanks in advance.

You can do pretty much anything you want outside the AADSAS system limitations once you submit - whether or not a particular DS will accept/acknowledge additional mailings is another question. I know when I applied, I used Interfolio to send in an extra LOR as well as a copy of my published research and a few other tidbits. Moreover, after being offered a couple interviews, I recall emailing a few schools and asking if they accept additional supplements (i.e. Statement of Intent, LOR, Essay(s), etc.) and a few said Yes, a few said No. It just depends. And I doubt you could ever know for sure if any of that extra stuff helps. I can't imagine it would ever hurt. But who knows. You should email the schools directly.

Check with the schools. But if you call a school to ask if you can send extra materials, and they say no... don't send extra materials. You'll look like a dumbas$ that can't follow simple instructions. Otherwise, I can't see why it would hurt.
