Hi everyone. Today I interviewed at a pet hospital for the position of vet assistant and it went... okay. I definitely didn't like the place or the company and I got weird vibes from the vet and coordinator. On yelp, google, Facebook, and all other review sites, the place is just trashed with negative experiences.

I am already volunteering at a vet clinic that I love (which could lead to a job down the road hopefully) and have a job as a pet sitter and doggy daycare director.

This job would provide more PAID vet experience hours which is awesome, but I am afraid to sign a contract and end up hating it.

What do you think?

I'd go with your gut feeling too.

(As for reviews, it's been my experience that many vet clinics have more negative than positive online reviews despite how well run and professional they may be. Read reviews with a grain of salt.)

Unless you are in dire need of money or experience, and this is your only option, I probably would stick with whatever current job you have.

This. Most people only post reviews if they have something negative to say.

Could you try it out and see if you liked it first? I'm a bit confused by you mentioning signing a contract; could you not just quit your job if it didn't go well?

Unless you're in need of money it sounds like your better off to stick with what you're doing now. As far as I'm aware vet experience = vet experience there is no differentiation for paid vs not paid vet experience for applications, if that's why your considering leaving. . Besides if you hate your job that's more the likely going to reflect in your work, which means your reference letter wont be that great (assuming your after one). I would stick with the place you like and hopefully once a position opens there you can just take it! Listen to your gut!
