I just took a sample PCAT shorter version exam of the real one sponsored by KAPLAN. I got the results the same day:

Verbal ability: 402
Reading comp: 297
Biology: 400
Quant Ability: 397
Chemistry: 406
Overall Score: 380

I studied late august using Kaplan prep book 2011-2012. So I wander if the price is worth or not. Im interested in the "On Demand" program.

Kaplan sucks. I took their course and it was absolutely full of errors! Their tests had errors, their practice quizzes had errors, and the teachers they hired didn't know the subjects well enough. Lets just say Kaplan even tried hiring me after I took the class and I don't think I know the subjects well enough. I ended up getting a partial refund after I made a list of some of errors I was finding not only through the online stuff they gave me but through their books as well as lesson plans. It was ridiculous! I scored 93% composite on my PCAT but I don't think Kaplan had much to do with it. Their biology section for review is pretty decent but that's about it.

Panada,

I am sorry to hear about your experience with us. I just wanted to let everyone know that our PCAT course underwent a revision earlier this year. Those errors and course content you mention underwent a content revision. If there is any other questions I can answer please let me know!

My friend took a Kaplan Online Course this year, and while I don't know anything about the actual lectures, I got a chance to look through her materials a couple of times.

It looked like they ripped off a bunch of the MCAT stuff and just threw it in the PCAT books. The quant section looked way too easy. The Science Notes book was huge and the common complaint I heard was that it was too comprehensive, that people spent a lot of time learning stuff that wasn't on the exam. I don't know how well my friend did, but she got an acceptance letter already from the school she applied to. But she also bought the Dr. Collins materials too, and I think she took the PCAT once right after the Kaplan course and once right after she studied the Dr. Collins stuff. I looked at her math and verbal workbook and it's just a waste of time compared to Dr. Collins.

Honestly, just get the Dr. Collins materials and study. I did really, really well just using Dr. Collins and studying my head off for a few months.

I don't know if you should take the scores you get from Kaplan's version seriously. They're not losing anything by giving you this test as part of their marketing. It's an easy way to make you feel anxious enough to plunk down $$$ for the course. Just buy the Pearson tests and take one to see where you're at, and buy Dr. Collins stuff. It's a fraction of Kaplan's cost.
