I was wondering to all of my fellow future dentists if submitting a dental application a couple a weeks before deadline would be a bad sign to the admin department about me and my chances of getting accepted/interview be slim due to time frame? I have marginal DAT scores, over ten years dental hygienist experience, B.S. in Bio, and good LORS. Can anybody enlighten me on this topic.

Technically, its not too late, but in reality it is, especially if your DAT scores are marginal. You still have a chance of getting in, but your chances would improve considerably if you apply early.

Maybe you could apply to only a few schools, i.e. your state school and schools with larger class size like NYU. If that doesnt work out this year, then apply to more schools (10-15?) in June 2004 for the 2009 class.

I think I could offer some insight here, but I'd need to know what your "marginal" DAT scores are. Depending on how long you've been hanging on SDN, people here develop a very skewed sense of their performance. PM me if you like, or don't respond at all, but there's certainly no reason not to apply now--I submitted my AADSAS 10 days or so before the final deadline. Good luck!

Kepping it short, a friend of mine applied 2 days before the deadline last year and got accepted to every school but one. So no it's not too late. Apply!
