I think this maybe program specific...i say this cuz i dont have a chair letter and I've gotten a few prelim invites. i'm assuming for the more 'academic/university' types u will.

it's not an absolute requirement, but so many programs seem to require it you should probably try to go ahead and get one anyway 🙁
