I'm retaking the MCAT on June 18th. (First attempt 7/8/7 22M (Aug 08)).

I really would like to submit my primary with a higher score than a 22, but after reading how many people have already submitted their primaries I'm having second thoughts.

I've started my application, but didn't plan on working on it any more until I have the stress of this MCAT off of my shoulders.

So do yall think Mid-July is too late? like after i get my new scores in?

No, I don't think mid-July would be too late, but if you can, start doing the application so that all you have to do is submit.

Good luck :luck::luck::luck::luck:

When are you scores due to be in?? You are able to submit without your MCAT and just update when you get them in. I had the same question regarding can I submit my app without my MCAT. I was planning on submitting my application around the time where both would be complete/available around the same time.

definitely not too late, mid july is still ok. Obviously you want to do as soon as you can, but before september I don't see too big a problem with it. A lot of schools wait until Aug to start their first screen thru, etc.

I assume that they will be in around July 18. I'm concerned that AACOMAS will send out my application before my MCAT score is recorded. And then i'd be rejected from some schools that i'm interested in.

Is that poor reasoning? Is there a way that you can control when they send off your information to the different schools?

Well, because you already took the MCAT once, there is a chance that your application can be verified quicker and there is a possibility of not meeting the screening criteria of some schools. Since you are taking the MCAT again, I would wait for that new score.

Had you not taken the MCAT, your application would, I believe, be on hold until an MCAT is available. So it wouldn't matter when you actually submitted the application.

There's a place on the application where you can indicate you are waiting on your retake scores if I'm correct.

You are correct. You indicate on your application that you will retake the MCAT and the schools will at least place your application on hold until they receive the new score. You can submit just fine as is. 👍

Ya7es, I took my MCAT in July of last summer which means the score came in the middle of August. My AACOMAs wasn't released to the schools I applied to until mid september. The same went for my AMCAS, and I submitted most of my secondaries by the very end of Sept./very beginning of Oct. Altogether I got 3 interview invites, and I got accepted to AZCOM after interviewing on halloween.

Moral of the story: YOU ARE NOT TOO LATE!!! Don't believe all these crazy people that tell you that you have to apply by the end of June. Worry about your MCAT, get a good score, then worry about your application. Take a deep breath and just focus on 1 step at a time. If you are really panicking or want some more info feel free to PM me 🙂.

you are definitely not going to be too late. i wrote my mcat at the end of august and then prepared my AACOMAS application the next two weeks. i submitted with my previous mcat scores and then released my new and improved score to AACOMAS at the end of september. i wasn't complete until october and i still got four interviews and three acceptances.

mind you, if i were to do it again, i would apply much earlier than i did!

g'luck!

Once again, you are not too late. I submitted my primary application the beginning of Jan. and will be attending LECOM-B. Go ahead and submit your primary without the MCAT.

I took the MCAT the first time in May two years ago, didnt like my score, retook it in August, got the scores back in early October, interview late October and was accepted by mid November.

It generally works, but it can be harder. Especially if you are also considering allo. It helps that the osteo cycle is later than the allo cycle, but it can still hurt your application in ways that are very hidden to you at this point in the application process. For my August 15th mcat and August 26th submission, it really really really sucked when I finally got my PCOM interview in December only to realize that I had a February interview. PCOM fills up very quickly (" with CCOM and a few others)...

If you are running slightly (later than December) when you are interviewing, call up every once in a while to see if you can move your interview early in the season. I was accepted, but my friend who didn't call and interviewed 1 week later was waitlisted...never bumped off in time...(yet)
