I'm taking Organic 2 and Microbiology in Fall 08...with some other two classes as well. But number of people have told me that It's not a very good choice because they both are hardcore classes! Need some good opinion about the schedule if someone have experienced these kind of schedule before.

Thanks!

Here's the deal.

1. You're in the wrong forum
2. If you can't handle OChem 2 and micro, you can't come close to handling medical school. Now being on the other side of the fence, undergrad is so easy its not even funny. I take a lot of questions from undergrads wondering if they can handle psych + a real class and if 18 hours is too much. It might cut into your xbox time, but think about what you want to be when you grow up.
3. On the flip side, dont feel like you HAVE to take a hard schedule because you want to be a doctor. Enjoy undergrad. But make yourself competitive, its a fine line. If you dont think you can handle it (you probably can), you probably just dont WANT to handle it. That's fine. Nobody in undergrad has a gun to your head and is saying "pretend you're in medical school"
4. I always took hard semesters because I was double majoring and thought I had to. I got accepted in the fall and planned a CAKE (bunch of pass fail, etc) senior spring. Best time of my life. Medical school is somewhat of a culture shock, its different. Definitely get your fun (to a certain degree) out, because things will change.

Good Luck

so exactly what does that have to do with allopathic?

Moving this to PA. Questions concerning college courses, admissions to medical school or choice of medical school belongs in PA (among several other topics. The allopathic forum is meant to be a place for allopathic students to have discussions amongst themselves.

I took Microbiology, Organic 1 and Biochem in the same semester.... trust me when I say I had no life outside of studying. It's definitely possible, though.

I took orgo 2 and micro together (along with, I think, German) and I was fine.

You know your own strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else, so you'll have to judge for yourself if you can handle it or not. Other people's opinions on these things are usually less than helpful since they may have a weaker/stronger background in the subject matter than you do.

Why's 2 science classes together so hard? I always hear people saying taking ochem 2 and genetics or cell bio together is impossible.... I took ochem 2, genetics, and animal phys together, and managed to pull that off which dipped into my nap times of course.... 😛

I'm taking ochem physics and virology this semester, next semester will be the second half of the first two and biochem.....probably will suck, oh well. I guess you cant always get it easy though, otherwise you will be an undergrad student fo-eva

I've known a lot of people who have done that combo and been fine. I'm taking cell bio, ochem, physics, and calculus this semester...I'll let you know how it goes.

General Microbiology class is just busy work, nothing challenging, so you should be fine. I did it before, so can you 😛

Can't be worse than mine:

Fall: Biochem and Cell bio
Spring: Biochem, Physiology, immunology.

You'll (hopefully) be in med school some day, get used to hardcore classes piled upon hard(er) core classes.

you would have to take 5 science classes, work full time, research, and volunteer before anyone on sdn will say it's too much.
