Is pre-reading possible in medical school?

I like to read a chapter/take notes on stuff in book b4 it's covered (I'm in high school).

Would this pre-reading method work in medical school? Also do any of you guys have any suggestions on being prepared for a lecture in med school (pre-reading and ect.)?

thanks

Since you are in high school, I suggest that you direct your energy to matters of more immediate importance in your life and not waste your time wondering about study strategies for med school lectures - which you may or may not ever attend.

As far as pre-reading as a technique to succeed in high school, sure why not? Try to clarify what you do not understand when you are covering the material for the second time in class. In general, the more exposure that you have with a subject, the more you are likely to master it.

Well, I started to pre-read when I was in elementary school and felt that I was far ahead of my peers when I started. I think it is a great idea- but make sure you don't make any friends. They will only distract you from your ultimate goals of being a good medical student.

Also, there is a PRE-MEDICAL forum and a HIGH SCHOOL forum. You should post in there if you want a more serious answer. Good luck

Anatomy coloring books i filled in over the summer (700 pages) have helped me tremendously in college anatomy...but of course you still have many years before med school so you would probably need repeated pre-reads in order not to forget material

but of course a solid background in undergrad is your best bet...if you really want to pre-read maybe direct it towards MCATs?

Nah, the OP should have already mastered the MCAT material in middle school. He/she should be working on the USMLE.

Lolwut??? Worst SDN advice ever.

It's possible, but ill-advised, as there are far better uses for your time.

kids these days...they're showing signs of being gunners younger and younger

Go and buy Gray's Anatomy and Advanced Medicinal Biochemistry right now and start studying.

Don't sweat it at the moment man, try later when you get accepted.

We're gonna need a middle school SDN soon.

Brother/Sister...I would say focus on he USMLE step 1, how were your mcat scores? And yes, please stay in your room, dont talk to anyone, focus completely on studying and if its possible, dont attend class, this way your focus is all where it needs to be..Eat once a day, too...

If that ever happens my head will explode. I still don't understand why there is a high school forum. I didn't even start thinking about college till my senior year!
Lol, me neither. Why is a high school student worrying about med school lecture???? :bang:
