Hi,

I have been posting a lot recently to gain information on dental school admission, so please understand me for this. I have 2.9 undergrad gpa in cell biology major and am going through informal post bacc right now.
I really want to know if it is worth re-taking classes that I received Cs in or if it's a better idea to take several more upper division bio/chem classes at local community college and spend more time in other factors such as volunteering, shadowing and research simultaneously. I have financial issues, so I doubt that I can go to masters, formal post bacc, or SMP..

Any advice/responses here or personal advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

It depends what the "C" was in. Was it the pre-req stuff? Then maybe. How many?

If not, take upper-level.

Yes, Cs were in Gen I and Gen II. Should I retake those to get As?

And those C's were in University?

A rule of thumb I heard is that if you get a "C" in "Class I" and "Class II", you could just retake "Class II" and if you earn an "A", do not retake the "Class I". It proves you knew all the content from the first portion of the series and would be a waste of your time and money.

Some schools do not consider prereqs from community so keep that in mind.

I suggest you start thinking about the schools you would like to apply to and then ask to schedule a phone consultation to discuss this with them or email them and save that email.
