I've been browsing through SDN for a long time tho I never left any msg coz i'm not as successful as u folks (rejected or waitlisted by most schools!), I have to give up my dream if my last interview school rejected me as well...

has anyone received news from RFU? I thought they were getting back to us interviewees this week...if we are accepted...does that mean I'm rejected😱 hell no!

Am I the single person on this planet who is not accepted to any place at all:scared: hell no! I suck...

I e-mailed the SGPS / IGPBS Admissions Coordinator administrator today, and she said that NO formal acceptances or rejections have been made as of yet (FRI 23 FEB). Acceptances will be made by formal letter, and those not accepted will still have their file considered for regular MD admissions.

They probably won't get around to making their decisions until next week (or the week after that...)

Thank you! I thought they were going to meet this week but...well...anyways, good luck to both of us! truly appreciated your post!

No RFU info, but I wanted to tell you to not forget to be aggressive on the waitlist. I was a love or hate kinda girl (no waitlists), but many of my classmates and applicants while I was on adcom made sure the director knew their name and how badly they wanted to come. Desire counts big time for waitlists, as schools don't want to waste their time. EVERYONE in the MD-PhD offices you are waitlisted at should know you without looking you up. The interviewers you clicked with should have gotten emails about your situation. Just be sure to be friendly, respectful and not annoying. You are so close, don't sit on these opportunities.

PS. People are more likely to post acceptances, so don't feel alone! :luck:

Thank you so much for your advice! I did try my best to make sure they know I consider them my top choices, but many schools were saying that additional letter etc would not do much to help my rank, so...I am crossing my fingers! It's such a long process but I hope I will get there...

I don't know if LOIs help, but they can't hurt, can they? 🙂 Also, if you have info to update your file (new research, pubs, whatever), I'd send the schools an update too along with your LOI. Best of luck to you.

Yes, definitely! But unfortunately I didn't find any significant events that are worth mentioning after my interviews (Jan/Feb) which are pretty recent...I am so desperate for any chance to be admitted! Should I call the schools to ask about my rank again?

In addition to emails/phone calls, you can always send a nice thank you/letter of interest, letting them know you had a good time at the interivew, what you liked about the school, and why it's a great fit for you. I think 'fit' matters a whole lot more in MSTP admissions than MD admissions. School don't interview many people and waitlist even less, so these letters will most likely be read. Make sure the waitlist places know that you're excited!

Relax🙂 I'm on hold so I know how u feel😛
I called Caryn today and she said probably end of the week we might hear sth! depending on whether the committee meets to give out acceptances. She asked me if I received any follow-up call from my interviewers and I didn't: I"m not sure if you did? But since they are interviewing such a small group, I'm pretty confident that we SDNers will hear a good news 😀 Caryn is the nicest and most approachable AdCOM person I know!

Hope this helps to ease ur nerves a bit!

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you recieved any follow up calls/ emails since the interview from RFU?

thanx

I received a follow-up call late Monday afternoon from one of the interviewers I had. It went to my voice-mail (no signal in the lab I work in 🙁, and I check my e-mail far more often) and I just listened to my messages yesterday, and I'm calling back today. She was nice, and asked if I had any further questions and any feedback about the interview process itself.

You'll probably get a call sometime this week, I guess it would depend on how busy your interviewers are this week.

I did get a phone call from my interviewer, asking my feedback and interest in the school...but he didn't cover the ranking and whether I'm going to get a spot or not (did u guys go over that in your discussion?) but he did mention that they are accepting VERY FEW this year...I'm not sure what that means...didn't they said less than 5 every year? does that mean it's going to be 2 to 3 instead? But i think we are going to hear sth by end of the week...I'm crossing my fingers...

:luck: to you, hon.

😀 4 are accepted this year! Good luck guys!!!!

Got the e-mail tonight! Good luck to all!!!

Oh no! No news...it's by e-mail? I like the school a lot...especially the faculty-student relationship...🙁 so 4 instead of 5 are accepted?

Remember not all that accept will choose to matriculate there, but at another institution where they were accepted. Unfortunately, that means you may not get an acceptance until very late in the season (I know that's nerve racking). Most MD/PhD candidates interview at multiple places, and will get multiple acceptances. That's why they interview 3 to 4 times the number they accept. You're still in the running, noMDPHDsucks, after all RFU dropped about a grand on interviewing you, so they thought you could be successful at their institution.

I guess that's the long way of saying don't worry yet...

lovexn, guga: If you were notified by e-mail, was it a personal e-mail that said you were accepted, or was it a FedEx shipment notice, or both?

(I got a FedEx shipment notice from RFU, its was sent standard overnight*)

* Standard overnight meaning to FedEx "whenever we feel like delivering it"

It was via e-mail (congratz u are accepted...). I also received the Fedex shipment notice. I was told that's the acceptance letter and info packet. I'm not sure about guga's case, but good luck to you phenylrabbid! I like the school a lot after i visited....I hope that helped! PM if u like!

I got what I thought was a personalized letter, but it may just be their "stamp" acceptance letter... I also got the fedex info about the acceptance packet. I'll put in some extra info when that comes in. I really liked the school and it is my fav out of schools I have been accepted to so far. Do you guys know when the acceptance/application process is truly considered over for schools? As I understand it, md/phd programs finish things earlier than the traditional md only programs due to the early(summer) start time for many schools... Does anyone have more info on this?

Thanks!

I never got any e-mail (except a FedEx tracking #) or phone call, but I got my letter today, and it said my "application to the Combined M.D./Ph.D. Program was not found acceptable, [they] are pleased to inform [me] that the Advisory Board ... is granting [me] an acceptance as a Ph.D. student..."

Oh wait, they didn't put u on hold but put u in grad school? R u accepting the offer then?

Any of my future classmates here BTW?

I signed the declaration of intent (they are part of the CGS so if accepted elsewhere I could withdraw the acceptance before the 15th of April).

I haven't heard back from any other schools yet, but many are still making their decisions.

I may be on hold for MD/PhD, since there was a post script: "This offer of admission will not have any bearing on [my] present or future consideration for [CMS]." But I don't know, and I probably should ask them.
