is SI (supplemental instructor) a stellar, average, or useless EC?

how much will a paid gig as the SI (supplemental instructor) for A&P help a med school app? it will take up precious time, and i don't need the money. i'd only do it to boost my med school app. the SI has to attend the course and hold a once a week SI meeting to review the material.

of course, i know gpa, mcat, clinical hours, and volunteer hours are way, way more important than an SI EC. however, if i have the time (without taking time away from the more important factors), will SI make a helpful dent at all? thanks for any input!

Teaching/tutoring has its own tag on the AMCAS application so it is obviously important as are publications and hobbies (two other tags). Teaching/tutoring can be volunteer or paid so, of course, some people choose to give it one of those tags depending on how they want to highlight things.

If you haven't already done something that can be tagged "teaching/tuoring" this could be a plus for your application but don't do it if your GPA will take a hit.

Thank you so much!

One large benefit of tutoring is to reinforce the content for yourself simultaneously. It's a great way to get paid to study/review a subject. A&P may not help on the MCAT but it's still a valuable knowledge base to have.
