Is taking Gen bio 1 and gen chem 1 at the same time too much?

I’m going to be an incoming college freshman and I’m dorming. Next semester I will be taking Gen bio and gen chem at the same time. I will only be taking one lab and the other classes that I have are creative writing, intro to psych, freshman seminar and Greek myths/Roman west art. This is about 16-17 credits in total. However, as a senior in high school I took AP Bio and AP chem at the same time so I do have some insight on both subjects. Should I drop something? Is it too much?

If you’re planning to graduate in four years and are majoring in anything science related, you’ll likely take at least two science courses per semester throughout your undergraduate career. This is the norm, and while challenging, is very doable.

One of my favorite resources to use was AK Lectures. This website contains literally hundreds of tutoring videos that are not only useful for undergraduate courses, but also for your MCAT studies when that time comes.

Best of luck, and have fun! College is one of the best times of your life, enjoy it!

No, you will be fine. Plus you should be prepared to take multiple harder science classes In one semester. For instance I had to take biochem and physics together, and organic chem and anatomy and physiology together. It will help you learn how to study efficiently, and plus intro bio and intro chem aren't *that* bad.

I personally do not think so. I had gen bio, gen chem, Ochem, and physics at the same time my second quarter (long story) at it turned out OK with an A- in the Ochem. I don’t recommend this route, but it illustrates how others have done what you are asking or harder so it is not out of the picture. It really depends on your abilities.

I took gen chem and gen bio together over a summer semester. It's not bad.
