I need to join a support group or something. I've been checking my email constantly...every free moment at work, hoping that some med school somewhere will send me something, anything....ok not anything, an interview. ARGH! I hate waiting. What do you people do to get your mind off med school apps?

SDN

oh wait... 🙁

Go to your local pharmacy and look for pills with the words :LAXATIVE.

Should help. 🙂

I always am checking my mail. Especially since most schools I have been complete at since the 1st of this month.

What I do to keep my nerves at bay is dive into my school work and work out. Also, I have taken to going to study all day, going to class and not worrying about the mail till I get home at night. I tend to watch my mail box like a hawk when I never got mail before this process.

Also, the two hour timeblock of Trauma and Resident Life on TLC mondays is a nice relaxing time for me as well.

If there were, it would come in the same package as the pill for obsessive SDN posting 🙂

Yesterday, I spent the whole day at a TV taping for the Pyramid game show. My old college buddy was a contestant on the show, and I was one of his guests. Anyhow, my buddy won $10 grand in the space of about a half hour, even though it took all day to film. I'll have to let y'all know when the show airs since I'm in it at the end congratulating my buddy on his good fortune.

Anyhow, my point is that I was so engaged with my friends, I didn't think at all about the application process. After the taping, we had dinner and drinks with some other guys from back in the day, so I didn't get home until late.

There was an interview invite waiting for me (my first, which was a really gratifying moment), and I got a secondary invite from my first choice school FINALLY, which I'm working on right now.

Too bad, I don't have other tapings to go to, but I have already toned down the e-mail checks as of today. It ain't going to make the rejections/interviews come any faster. I'm getting a little resigned about the process altogether.

So, I guess the pill for obsessive email checking is to get on Jeopardy or something.

AAK
. . . not funny. I know.

I have been to a Jeopardy taping. It was the college tournament and they did 3 in one day. Actually, after the first one it got pretty boring really fast. So I wouldn't count on that to take your mind off apps. 😉

Anyways, I don't know about any pills but if you find one, please let us know. 😀 😀 😀

Don't you love when it says "INBOX 1" ........

and then you excitedily check it to find out it is some stupid #@^*^spam mail 😡 😡

Robz,
I love watching Trauma and Resident Life on TLC on Mondays! It's funny that you describe it as relaxing... "non-medical lovers" (like my roommate!!!) might disagree.🙂

As for the constant email checking, I've resorted to closing my web broser for as long as possible when I'm at work. That way I have to log in every time I want to check my email, instead of constantly refreshing the page. It's helped me cut back:laugh:

I have my eprompter software set to check my yahoo email every 3 minutes. That's pretty obsessive and it doesn' t take any work!

AM I AWAKE?

...bump....I need some of that

Paxil CR works great for me!

Which one is the best for obsessive behaviors...Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, (other SSRI available), etc.? Just curious 😛

Amir, alternatively, go watch movies with the HL group 🙂
I need something to fill up my time, I only have biochem lab and a dumb GE class this quarter.

don't worry
the obsessive email checking will die down in a few weeks
for me, its been almost 2 months since my last interview invite
and so now that ONE NEW EMAIL in my INBOX
doesn't really evoke that nervous response i had before
there is always still a glimmer of hope
but i definitely check my emails less frequently and go on SDN less often

Zoloft is frequently used for OCD. So, of the family, Zoloft is probably the best. However, I think the best thing is the gym. It works for me.

Regarding the aforementioned issue I would like to voice my own, well thought-out opinion...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!

LOL...Well this is my fifth year, so basically I have 4 real classes to take before I graduate. I'm taking two in Fall quarter, and two in Winter quarter, so I'll graduate in Winter instead of Spring.

I have not received news from a medical school in over three weeks. I am going out of my mind. Today, I got a (1) in my inbox, and I thought, yay, news! But alas, it was not meant to be . It was a stupid email from hotmail, updating their policies. +pissed+

Lexapro

How about excessive phone-calling.

I believe I have called Northwestern's admission office over 10 times about my admission status....it's still under review...*sigh*

I started calling in the beginning of sept b/c I wanna coordinate a potential NWU interview with my Pritzker one. Then I kept on calling b/c I visited my friend at NWU and I liked the campus.

The last time I called...I lady basically told me to check my status online instead...she was right, I'm just anxious like that

calebho501, i'm the same way w/northwestern, but instead of calling them i just constantly check their status page. i wonder if the page status changes as soon as they've decided to give you an interview, or if there's a delay...

no way to really know if it's updated the minute they decide, but it's definitely posted up there before you receive the snail mail invitation. not that i'm encouraging compulsive behaviors... 😉

Glad to know that I am not the only one.......🙁
