Is there any point to getting extra credits in Medical School?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There is an "opportunity" to get some credits at my medical school. Is there any reason I would want to do this? Will it make me look better in residency?

What do you mean exactly, an elective? First and second year electives should just be used for your fun and edification. They're not going to make a whole lot of a difference unless perhaps they are research-based.

What about volunteering? I chose research over volunteering...did 2 separate projects but it looks like only 1 may get published. 0 volunteering in med school though....

They will essentially do nada. They are for your enjoyment/interest. This isn't undergrad. Rather than spreading yourself thin, focus on quality work in research, volunteering, and of course your learning.

If this extra credit you're talking about involves slaying demons then I say go for it.
