Is there any significant time in medical school that you can devout to leisure?

If so what is the typical schedule like: classes (year 1 and 2), clinical (year 3 and 4), and leisure? Thanks

year 1:

class from 8-noon, M-F, with afternoon labs 2-3 times a week. free time the week before a test=0. the week after a test is pretty much all free time and is spent recovering from the preceeding test block. i'd say i study about 3-4 hours a day on average and really have as much free time as i'd like. not a very clear answer, but it definitely depends on the person and their study style.

it totally depends on your school. There really is no typical schedule. And you can have leisure time if you make it a point to take time off.

Yes, if you make it a priority. And you should. 😉

Theres always time for the nasty, if not you make time. International man of leisure you won't be, but try you must.

Tee hee hee. That's very funny

absolutely. the whole thing. 😀

Unless your gunning...

Passing is not so bad (pretty easy for most).

High pass and you can still have a life.

Have good high-yield instincts and good time management and honors can be attained while having significant leisure.

Gunning for Derm..... forget about it.

Leisure time varies with a lot of different factors. I think a lot of it has to do with who you are and what your interests are. I had a lot of free time during my “medical science” years because I understood the stuff very well. Some people had to do extra reading because they just learn slower. So far during my rotations I’ve had the least amount of free time in Obs&Gyne.

Oh, and as already mentioned, some people gunning 4 the really competitive specialties do tend to say bye bye to their social life.
