Is there any value in acing Uworld questions you already know?

Or does it just build a false sense of security? I've been concerned about this - I've gotten down to the point where the only questions I have left are Pathology, and not very many at that. Any other question I get will be questions I've already seen, and I already know the answer.

Does "already knowing the answer" still help with the USMLE, in your experience?

Or does it just make you feel like you know more than you really do?

I am indifferent about this, and was worried about the same thing. I finished UW with about 1ish weeks to go, and then started over - finished just over half again before my exam. I definitely think it was valuable to see those questions again even though you may remember the answers to a lot of them. It allows you to get the exposure and help it brand it in your head. Seeing more questions also helps you with the real thing -- certain topics can only be tested a certain way -- e.g. pernicious anemia -- b12 deficient and atrophic gastritis in an elderly woman. You get that question stem branded in your head, and when you see it on the real thing you know what they are going to ask.

So yes, I think it is a good thing. I also did the UWSA 1 and 2 to get more questions as well.

Yeah. Seeing the same questions again can't hurt you as long as you understand the question stem and the concept behind the answer. At this point though, I'd be more concerned with going over unused questions to see what minutiae/concepts that I don't understand yet. That's just my personal opinion though.

I'm getting 80-85% on my second pass which tells me that there is still a lot that I don't know. I should be getting 100%, but instead no, I'm learning new things or things I've forgotten.

Same here. 25% in with second pass and averaging 94% now but I think there are still some questions that give me trouble, which are often the ones that gave me trouble in the first place. Getting the same question wrong twice really helps burn it into your memory, or at least I hope so.

If UWorld is getting tiresome, you could do USMLE Rx qbank, or COMQuest. Some high yield stuff that's not covered by UWorld.

I wanted to ask, I feel that the explanations in uworld are way to dense, after doing 46 questions, I just don't have the mental energy or stamina to sit there fore 3 hours and read and understand each of them everyday at least. given that I have 3 weeks till exam, is there any value in just doing the questions and barely glancing over the ones I missed? Or not even going over them just for the sake of finishing?

Doing my second pass for Uworld and I don't usually read the explanations. Good rule of thumb is if I'm spending more than 30 seconds on a question, i'm probably having trouble with it and need to read the explanation. Otherwise, if it is an easy question, I'll just move on.

I personally skim through the explanations still, although maybe ill stop... it definitely takes me a really long time lol

but as90, if you haven't gone through uworld once, i'd say the explanations are very important and the main reason uworld is known to be such a good qbank

Yea dude I've been grinding away with this second round but I'm quickly losing interest. Trying to do 400 per day but feel so burnt out after 300.It's like sitting through all 7 blocks of the real step if you count the time spent reviewing some of the explanations.
