Long time lurker here...
Hi,
I'm a rising Junior who only has about a year before I begin applying to schools. I would like to enter medical school directly after undergraduate. Currently, this summer, I'm working on beefing up my volunteering hours which is working out nicely as I am volunteering almost full-time at a nearby nursing home.
I have all the other essentials for a competitive application (GPA, ECs); however, there is one component which I am seriously missing an is bothering me: leadership.
Is there anyway I could secure some leadership positions this summer with the remaining 7 weeks that I have? I know it's not practical to simply become a member of a committee or the president of an organization just like that, but I was thinking perhaps organizing an event, perhaps at the nursing home? Or maybe somewhere else?
I would love some input from the adcoms on this board in terms of what would qualify as good leadership, but also not come off as subpar or simply looking like a check off on my application. I would like to make a good impression, but I would also like to experience what it is like to have some authority before applying.
Thank You.
