Is there a residency shortage going on in the DO/MD arena?

It is a BIG issue in the podiatry field. I have seen a few articles here and there about a shortage for DO/MD residency spots.

I personally was thinking of possibly changing fields (please don't flame me :scared:). I was wondering how to list the courses for my podiatry courses on the AACOM application. Is that something I should ask the application service?

Unfortunately, I have to retake the MCAT because I took it in 2006. My weakness at that time was PS section. I scored well on the BS and verbal sections.

Is there a reason why the adcoms want a score under 3 years old? Were there changes to the MCAT?

No, there is no residency shortage for DO students. However, that could change over the next 20 years if no new residency spots are created.

http://www.aacom.org/Documents/AACOMASInstructions.pdf

Page 15 in the AACOMAS instructions states that you should list podiatry courses as "professional" courses and these won't be included in your GPA.

For the same reason they want to see recent coursework if you have been out of school for several years. They want to make sure you can still do it and perform well. There haven't been major changes to the MCAT in the past few years though they are proposing big changes in a few years.
