Is there such a thing as too many research projects IN PROGRESS?

Having decided on ophthalmology quite late in my third year (June), I only have ophtho research projects that are unpublished/in progress. I have heard negative comments about this from ophthalmology advisors suggesting that this may give residency programs the impression that I only start projects and am not capable for following through with them. I currently have 5 projects in progress (case report, case series, review article, basic science research, and a prospective cross-sectional study). Should I list all of them or should I just pick a couple to put on my CAS application to avoid the aforementioned issue?

Thanks for the help!

In my research section I put three categories: 1- publications, 2- presentations, and 3- research experiences

I only list things in pubs if it is either accepted or has been submitted (publication pending, or however you want to say it)... presentations are all my posters/oral type stuff... research experiences includes any project I've worked on (that is worth mentioning) that hasn't really been mentioned elsewhere. I guess that I still did list a research experience that I ended up publishing but I felt this appropriate because you can talk about what you did in the research experience section and then they can see that it was published in the pub section.

So in response to your question... I think it would be fine to list what you are involved in under research experiences but I wouldn't list them elsewhere such as a pub in progress unless you have actually submitted something to a journal. Just my thoughts, hope it helps.
