Is this a bad idea?

I have been having trouble finding Physics classes to take over the summer, especially ones with lab. I'm going to be a junior taking Orgo 1 and 2 this coming year, so would it be a terrible idea to take physics and orgo at the same time? Any thoughts?

Plenty of people at my school did it. You'll have a couple labs a week, but no biggie. It's good prep for the MCAT too. What other classes would you take? I say go for it.

I did it and took TPR MCAT review course in the same semester and it was hard but do able. If you are thinking of doing it during summer that would be pretty brutal but you gotta do what you gotta do. So do what you feel...

I don't think that's a bad idea at all; I'm sure plenty of pre-meds have done orgo and physics together. If you feel that you can handle it, then go for it. It won't be easy, but...hey, you're trying to get into med school, right?

Thanks for the help. I'm just taking some psychology courses so I don't think it should be too bad. Thanks again!

I think it depends on you, and what your strengths are. I didn't have any trouble with organic chemistry (even while taking other upper-level sciences), but when I did physics over the summer it was absolutely the worst thing I had done. It may just take me a little longer to grasp the math... I don't know. It was evil. Awful. Hated it. We were doing just about a chapter a day. Algebra and I are not buddies.

I took the first semester of physics over the summer, and I can say that it wasn't that bad for me. It's tough because you go at a much faster rate, but if it's the only class you're taking, it's actually a bit easier to study because you learned all the material recently (as opposed to a month ago during a full semester). I'm sure experiences vary, but I think that either option would work out. As Melicoptor pointed out, it depends on how YOU feel about these subjects.

i took physics and orgo together my soph year, also with genetics 1st semester and human physio 2nd semester, it was kind of tough

Believe it or not, taking both might actually help. Some schools look to see if you can handle multiple "tough" classes at once. Sounds like a good opportunity to prove yourself.

I was spanish lit before wrapping up Gen chem and going full on with the phys, bio and orgo and all the labs, back to back semesters - it sucked but it was basically a "post-bacc" program - and it's standard fare. You won't have too much of a problem with it if you keep up with your stuff.

I did chem, bio, and phys with labs all together for a few semesters when I went back to take the prereqs (at the school where I did this I found general chem to be more painful than orgo personally). It's very doable, though you need to make sure that you're outside of school commitments are (work etc) are pretty limited. that said, I've also done a post-bac and my experience was that this was actually harder in terms of volume of info covered (probably easier in terms of concepts). you can definately do it and will be expected to manage this volume in medschool!👍
