I am currently taking 12 semester units at my university, but I want to drop a 4-unit course. I have two reasonns for this. The first is that my research is really kicking off (prepping for publishing), so I have devoted more time to that. I also manage two projects (one by myself and one with my professor). Secondly, I am taking the MCAT in three months, so obviously a big deal.

Would admissions people look down on an 8-unit semester? The 8-units is deceptive since it's not all class time. Research takes a lot more time that the units awarded.

Thanks!

I would keep the class. 12 credits is 3 or 4 classes, just try to manage time better.
