So I am a manager at a free clinic at a homeless shelter. I am the only one working the front desk and sign patients up, insert their records into the system, go into the waiting room and talk to patients about what kind of care they need, etc. I am pretty much the first point of contact for all patients entering the clinic and since it is a free clinic, I have had the opportunity to meet a wide variety of patients who couldn't afford to receive care elsewhere. I work closely with medical students and a physician who run the clinic and occasionally, when the clinic is slow, they let me sit in one of the patient rooms and listen in. So is this considered clinical experience?

Absolutely, yes.

if you aren't seeing patients and diagnosing them, it's not clinical experience. 😉

if you are seeing patients and diagnosing them, it's practicing medicine without a license. 😉
fixed that for you... and no one wants to have to report a conviction for practicing medicine without a licence on the AMCAS.
