I'm trying to figure out if I have a realistic chance to get into medical school. My g.p.a. overall is 3.3, but bcpm is 3.0 with a death touch of 2 C's in both terms of organic chemistry. But I did alright on the MCAT: 12B 11P 10V. Anybody else in a similar situation?

maybe you can tell us a bit about your ec's and background (like ugrad, major, how long it took you), etc...

I go to a bottom-half top 50 private university, major: Political Science. As far as EC's, I've done biochemical research and I have the typical hospital volunteering experience. But my main EC is that I am a very active inter-collegiate debater, and I have had reasonable success (above average) debating.

There's still hope Senator ... I had a slightly lower undergrad GPA and BCPM with the exact same MCAT score ... got my marks up a little as I completed a masters, and will be attending a top-25 school in the fall ... so don't give up, pm me if you need more encouragement

Thanks for the info to all.

Bocai, what did you do your masters in and how long did you take off? Also, were you a re-applicant? Thanks.

Do a post-bacc.

My overall GPA was higher - about a 3.5, but my BCPM was only a smidge higher than yours. I got a C in o. chem and another in biochem, and my MCAT was lower than yours - a 31, I think. I was a history major (no science minor), and my main ECs were not medically related either - talking to prospective high school students who interviewed for a scholarship that we give out, and language exchange with Latin Americans. I also did an internship abroad for a month. (I didn't do college debate - too many horror stories about the necessary time investment.) Still got into one of my top choice schools on the first try. So, there's definitely hope for you. I think what's important is the trend in your grades - are your other science grades good? Have you taken other upper level, advanced science courses, and gotten at least Bs in them? Do your grades tend to get better each year, or decline?

Good luck.
