Would this be useful at all as a summer EC - it's an internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (full info here)?
  • As a Care Coordinator, interact with patients in person during their outpatient visits, focusing on checking patients in and providing a warm welcome.
  • Act as resource to patients and a liaison between the patient and the clinical team
  • Participate in networking events and seminars specifically for MSK summer students
  • Finish the program with real-life work experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment
(removed my uninformed and misinterpreted opinion)

I think it sounds a bit too administrative and non-clinical and there are far better things a pre-med can do over the summer, but it's just something that came across my feed today and I wanted to ask.
This activity is very much clinical and seems like a good experience (even without the networking component). Their students are interacting directly with patients, and depending on the patient population, may even make a significant difference in a patient's visit. The job description does not make this seem administrative at all. Of course, if someone has "far better things" to do, then they should by all means pursue those other opportunities. Just my thoughts.
