The president of my school and I are really friends. And he asked me how this med school admission thing was going. He knows someone everywhere. I told him about the waitlist that I am on and he offered to call on my behalf.
Is it weird if the president of your school calls a Med school on ur behalf?

Also the dean of admissions is also a very good frind of mine. He has been asking for a phone number of the admissions office. Is it weird if he also call on my behalf.??

BTW, the president wrote me a a LOR. but the dean of admissions didnt.

What's with this "cool story bro" thing people are saying so much recently? Not only on this forum but in real life too...

OP probably goes to some small relatively obscure school where the administrators are heavily invested in their best students doing well.

Weird? perhaps. Helpful? perhaps. you don't have much to lose, so why not.

"Cool story bro" can mean a couple things, e.g. thanks for showing off about this and that (in this case knowing the president) but we dont care, or, it can also be a way of calling out a troll.

^^LMAO

This is funny but the OP is actually serious, and I can see why. Honestly, it is weird and I wouldn't recommend it. You are no diff anybody else who is on the waitlist so you should have no special privileges, regardless of who you know. I know they offered to call, but you should politely decline. In my opinion the adcoms would not like this because they may think you ASKED them to call, and think that you think you are entitled to go to their school bc of who you know.

Hey
i actually dont go to a small school. b4 I came to my school I left some my things in the deans office and ever since we have been good friends. He even takes my car to his house wen i fly home for breaks. The president always invites me to dinners bc im african american and he is too. Im like the school rep and I go to a predominantly white school
Im not a troll, it was def a serious question.

im thinking I should have the president call bc he says he used to work with the med school president

Do it. I hear plenty of stories from people (mostly older attendings, maybe it was more common then) of this exact situation.

"You are no diff"... Sure the OP is, the OP impressed some major administrators at his/her school. That's something an adcom should/would/might consider
