My first post: I'm scheduled to take the MCAT on August 22nd and had, till now, firmly planned on applying to schools this fall for admission in the following year, 2009. My problem is timing. I won't receive scores until mid-September. How much of a disadvantage is this? I've thought about sending out an incomplete primary, with my score pending, as I've heard that this may "save a spot" at some schools. However, I recognize that the application is incomplete; most schools may not give mine a second thought. Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you.

I think that IF you apply this year, you should definitely definitely submit an incomplete primary, ASAP. This will greatly increase your chances this year.

Also, think about waht your main goal is---do you want to go to any medical school 1 year earlier, or a "better" med school 1 year later? If you prefer the former and have the money to spend, then I'd say apply, but if you are short on cash, or prefer the latter, then wait till next yr and apply early to maximize your chances. good luck!
