I was supposed to take the DAT last summer, but I backed out after having studied 2 months for it. Well...I registered for it last summer, and they told me I had one year before my test registration expires. So, I am obligated to take it August 4th (in 5 days OMG), or I will forfeit all that money I paid to take the DAT.

My exam is this Thursday. I am definitely getting nervous, although I feel confident about the sciences in general. I've read through Cliff's at least 6 times within the past year. I've read through it twice this summer.
Is it normal for me to have doubts again, and think about rescheduling?
I've studied for this thing since May 16th...EVERY DAY.
I guess I just need some encouragement, or at least to know I'm not the only one feeling almost overwhelmed and nervous. Thanks...

If you have studied since may 16th + the summer before then you are READY! Everyone has their doubts and gets the jitter bugs. IT IS 100% normal...

It is kind of like cliff diving... At some point you just have to jump. Of course, you only want to jump when you are prepared because you want to avoid any unnecessary injuries. I am pretty sure you have prepared long enough for this jump. ENJOY!

By the way, how are your practice scores (topscore, achiever, etc..)?

This should make you feel more confident...

I've read a lot of threads, especially score reports, during these past few months and the pattern I noticed was that all the people who studied a lot and were committed in their prep all did well (20+ scores) and they all used the same core materials (KBB, Destroyer, Math Destroyer, Chad's, CDP, TopScore, Cliffs AP Bio). The exceptional 24+ scorers used the same materials and sometimes more (datQvault, Khan's, Barron's, etc), but just went through the core materials more times than the 20+ scorers did (i.e. Destroyer 5x's vs. 2x's). That was the main difference I spotted between the 24+ group and the 20+ group. On the other hand, the sub 20 scorers either didn't use the right materials or didn't study enough or a combo of both. So if you prepared like the 20+/24+ scorer groups have done, then you will be fine.

You got it man! Ive been studying since May 16th too and mine is on the 3rd. I know you had the whole year prior too, but you gotta do it! Time to get rid of the stressing about written questions, and start stressing on your interview questions!

Sounds like cold feet. Bottom line is if what your saying is true and you have been rockin n rollin incessantly since may and a year bf that your probably good to go. You read Cliffs how many times? You probably see that awful phylogeny chart in your sleep by now. I'm taking the test same day (Aug 4th). You need to get psyched up man. Because no matter how it turns out, you'll know you went full throttle, studied your butt off and gave the DAT some hell. Now lets finish up strong! Btw, good results or bad, I'm celebrating on the 4th. Probably at a buffet of sorts....

That's the thing...I am taking the ADA 2009 test tomorrow. I haven't taken any other practice tests. I took one CDP test today and I made an 18 but I went 20 minutes over the time limit. I only have 4 more days to study...
I have Destroyer but I haven't gone through it...been focusing too much on my notes that I took when watching Chad's videos. Idk...after hearing this, now what do you guys think? lol...

Take the 2009 first and see how you do. If you have to spend $320 to schedule a new date, then so be it--it's not the worst scenario. The worst would be to bomb the exam, and then have to wait three months for a retake date which will be very late in the cycle. I would rather lose $320 and take the exam in mid to late August and achieve the score that you need.

No joke bro, I was JUST thinking the exact same thing 10 seconds before I grabbed my computer to see if someone responded. You're right...I will come back tomorrow and post my practice scores. If I don't do so hot, then I will spend the 320...and take the exam in 2-3 weeks from now. Thanks for the advice. I must rock this thing. Hey, is going through all the Destroyer sciences necessary do you think to get a 20+?

It's normal. Have faith in yourself and go in with confidence. If you've been studying since May 16th, you're well prepared for it! Just take a couple practice tests and see how you do. Are you applying this cycle?

I think if you go thru Destroyer 3x's and Chad's 2x's, then you are good for 20+

I have filled out most of my application...but if I don't score well, I will not apply this cycle. I am just gonna see what my practice scores are tomorrow...so...be looking for them. I'm going to bed....:scared:😴

You are good to go, trust me. You put honest time and effort into studying, and you've been working hard. You will do great. BTW, it's perfectly normal to want to reschedule 🙂 But don't do it unless you completely didn't study a section or something. Good luck on your DAT!

Nope. Just use what you think will help you understand and apply your knowledge. Going through tons of problems without using your brain is a waste of time.

It seems like you studied more than enough! Practice tests are just to get your timing, but I'm assuming you timed yourself during CDP tests and Math tests hopefully. Adrenaline kicks in day of test and if you're mindful of the time that you have throughout the test, you will have no trouble speeding through the test. Have faith in yourself and you should score in the range that you would like!

Best of luck 👍.
