Issues with Anki (too many repeat cards, order not randomized)

I am trying to use the Anking deck to learn and review information about several subjects and I have tampered with the settings but am having some issues. It was working well for a while and I did get through many cards in a relatively short period of time, but it bugs me that it is now forcing me to go through a bunch of repeat cards (like around 50 or so) I marked for review and I only get a new one (out of like 450 I have unsuspended) every once in a blue moon.

This is very ineffective since doing the same few cards a ton of times on one day instead of spaced out or on different days may only save the information to short term memory. I have tried tampering with settings but none of my changes have seemed to do much. My studying has basically come to a standstill because I want to quickly go through some new cards with occasionally review, not go through several cards 5 times before getting new ones.

I've heard the interface may also have changed recently. Is there a good guide or recommendations people have to address this?

Use FSRS. Look up Anking’s video about FSRS and his settings and use that. It sounds like your settings are set to do your reviews before your new cards, which is why you’re doing “repeats” before seeing any new cards. If you are hitting again or your intervals for new or review cards are less than 1 day, that is why you are seeing the review cards multiple times in the same day. Reviews before new cards or vice versa or mixing new cards with reviews is personal preference.

I just realized the problem is a lot of my cards were "learning" cards which seem to not be able to be placed after new cards. I also had a new card threshold of 300 per day for each subdeck in Zanki (rarely hit all of them for any deck in a day but it was the max) causing me to get a lot of learning and review cards (I think I'm already around 2000-3000 of those)

Have buried sibling cards? This cuts down on repeat information where a single card has multiple cloze learning points
