Exciting news for future physicians!

Roseman University College of Medicine (RUCOM) is expected to be accepting applications in AMCAS in early March of this year for the inaugural July 2025 cohort. As an allopathic medical school, RUCOM aims to train future physicians to meet the growing healthcare needs of Nevada and beyond.

“A new medical school is opening in Las Vegas in an attempt to mitigate the physician shortage in Nevada.

Nevada-based Roseman University of Health Sciences is launching a four-year doctor of medicine program, after receiving Preliminary Liaison Committee on Medical Education accreditation on Thursday. The college will start taking applications in March and start a charter class of 60 students in July on its Summerlin campus.”

Will this school favor applicants from Nevada even though it is a private school?

Review the website that outlines the application process. This will be a warp-speed process to fill 60 seats by July. Have questions about the curriculum, especially GENESIS, which is the key to discern whether you would be a fit.

Primary applications are screened. Secondaries will be sent if your application passes the screen. If invited, you must submit a Kira Talent Assessment to complete the secondary.

Post-secondary invitations to interview virtually. Then decisions including accept, waitlist, or reject.

Traffic Rules: depending on the timing of decisions, accepted students will have a rapid turnaround to claim their seat in the Roseman class (likely 1-2 weeks). Roseman has not posted any guidance to navigate CYMS, but keep in mind the policies of other schools that have extended offers. Note that Traffic Rules: After April 30, it is your responsibility to promptly notify any school(s) you have decided to not attend. Your decision should be made by the deadline established by the medical school(s).
