glad to see you all so excitted about starting school. i am still in LA and enjoying the best weather ever.

i just wanted to post this message for all of those who cant wait to get their books. seriously, just wait till you start your classes and see if you'd really need those books. as afew have mentioned, you wont need too many of those expensive books. so do yourself and save that money.

see you guys in indy soon.

Heya Ahmad, you have to do 4 clinic assists during second year, two each semester. What you do while you're up there is really up to the student you're working with. I did three quickie assists just to get my attendance, and on the last one I prepped & filled a #20 occlusal resin. If you're looking for someone to pair up with for some of your attendances, just let me know & we can see how our schedules match up. The rest of the time supposedly set aside for clinic, you'll probably spend downstairs working on dentures or fixed pros.

Score!! At least one of us has the atlas for digging.

As far as financial aid goes, when I talked to Paul, he seemed to think it might come as late as the week of the 4th. I know he's trying hard for us though. I really wish I could have it before buying the laptop though, seeing as how I am completely broke.

Gold Crown, in order to get an iupui email account, go to https://itaccounts.iu.edu and then enter your student id number which should be the number that starts with a bunch of zeros . . . the rest should be self-explanitory. If that doesn't work, you might try using your social security #?? All I had to do was add an iupui account to my already existing iub one though, so maybe that’s why I didn’t have problems.

I'm down for Rock Bottom on the 5th, if that's a good place to go. There are a lot of fun bars and restaurants in Broad Ripple . . . OPT's, Rock Lobster, Plumps, Casba . . . I'm living with my parents in Indy currently, so I've been bar hopping a bit in the area-these were all really fun places. I'd actually like to try something new though-so I'll second Rock Bottom.

Can I join in on the procrastination club? I have yet to get my shot records, collect teeth, get books, buy a laptop, etc. Oy, summer is too short!

Rock Bottom. Sounds great!

since i don't know the indy scene AT ALL, i guess i'll jump on the rock bottom bandwagon. i'm planning on spending the week before the fourth learning the city. in case i still don't know it by then (and for everyone moving in on the 5th), someone should probably post some directions for how to get there. maybe tell us how to get there from the school, since we probably all know where that is at least. later.

I'll wait till it gets a little closer to the date, then I'll send a PM with directions to everybody who's said they want to come. Everybody OK with that?

Count me in!! 😀

i'm currently on holiday; count me in for the 5th!

I'll be there on the fifth as well!

Who wants to be a jem and call me on my cellular to give me the details of our engagement on the fifth? I will be driving cross country starting this Monday. Yup starting Monday, no more internet, no more TV. It's just going to be me and the road.......oh ya, mom and pop too (can't leave home with out them).

I would really appreciate it.

I'll get it. Just PM me a number to call, and I'll fill you in this week.

hey Bill,

i am going through old papers and trying to organize old exams, ect. is there anything in particular (ie notes, handouts) that i should be keeping or is everything junk except for the old exams that i'd be giving to my novice?

I don't think there's anything you really need to keep. You might hang on to your operative lab manual to have as a clinical reference, but that's all I can think of.

Consider this last call for Rock Bottom! I'll be sending directions sometime Tuesday, and if you're not here in the thread you won't be getting a copy. Looking forward to meeting everybody!

Actually, you probably could. Like say IU gives you a full ride and guarantees you a job as a dentist making 400k right out of school...that would probably make u pretty happy 😀

i've been out of this forum for the last week, just got back from my honeymoon. 🙂 can someone please give me the latest if we are meeting on the 5th. thanks

Congrats Demon. Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Congrats demonicr! Bill is gonna give us PMs with directions next week.

I just got into Indy. What a long drive! I drove 850 miles today with my parents. I'm gonna check into the campus apartments tomorrow morning, then off to Chicago to chill (never been there).

See you guys soon. 🙂

Congrats on surviving the drive, Nahir! 🙂

I'm currently on National Guard annual training (the "two weeks a year" part of "one weekend a month, two weeks a year"), and I'm posting this from the hotel we're staying at during our concert tour. 😀 PMs with directions should be in your mailboxes in a few minutes, and necessary phone calls will be right behind.

OK, I think I sent all the messages. If you want to come to Rock Bottom on the 5th and you didn't get one, let me know and I'll make sure I let you know what's going on.

Hi peoples

So, what time are we all meeting at Rock Bottom on the 5th?

6ish? 7ish? Let's agree on a reasonable time... 😀

how about like 9 or something? Who goes out at 6 🙂!!!??

I wouldn't mind keeping it a *little* early. I love y'all, but Tuesday will be my first day back after being gone for a week doing Army stuff (I'm posting this from the hotel room your taxes are paying for), and I'd like to get home early enough to spend a little quality time with the missus 😉 Besides, RB is definitely a restaurant and not a club. I'm thinking 7:00. Oui? Non? Repondez-vous!

7 sounds good to me.

Great! I'll be there at 7
I can't fing believe we've got 2 days left. . . 😱

See you guys there...maybe we should meet outside of RB in a group so its really obvious that we are the SDN crew. Anyway, see you tomorrow night

count me in, how many people are we expecting?

I like this idea, especially since most of us have no idea what any of the others looks like. Since I'm an obvious exception to the anonymity, look for me outside Rock Bottom wearing a plain white hat with a Nike swoosh across the front. I don't know any of y'all, so don't be shy about coming up to introduce yourselves. 😉

Would anyone whose driving to RB tonight mind giving me a lift from the dental school parking lot?

PM me if you need my number.

I have a car...and live in Thornbrough...I was hesitant to PM you because you havent responded to my previous PMs. Anyway, let me know where you live...in my last PM I left my cell number. I will send you a PM with my email and room phone number

thanks peoples!

I just wanted to say "thanks!" to everybody who came out tonight. Rachel & I both had a great time getting to meet everybody, and the turnout ended up being way better than I expected. I figured we'd be doing great if six or eight people showed up, and we must have had 20--we had to stop sliding tables together and start annexing nearby booths. Good luck to the new D1's, and I'll see you in the anatomy lab next week if not before then 😉

Damn...First day of orientation was extremely boring. Nice to have everyone meet up tho before we started school, was good to meet some of u 🙂.

-Virgil

wow, orientation was exhausting.

the article for tomorrow is unecessarily long... interesting, but long. the very last page basically sums it up nicely 😴

they made us assess and write our opinions about the orientation last year. this was supposed to help them come up with better ones.

sounds like not much was changed. so much for our opinions.

Agreed. Orientation was very long and drawn out, but hey, I guess it could've been worse. And those practice boards?? Well, the half of it where my brain was actually still functioning . . . I'd say I'll be lucky to get 25% right. Also, it was lovely to meet everyone at Rock Bottom. What a group, eh?
And happy bday Virgil, but it's time to move your thread to the big kid's section 😎

Are any of you going to the 3rd year party at Broadripple on Monday? Free booze and snacks sound good to me... 😀
