I've been in a state of anxiety all day because of a D I made in intro bio 2 years ago

Basically I've been telling myself "lets see how you do on the MCAT before you even get your hopes up" as my coping mechanism.

It was brought on by a conversation I had lastnight hanging out up at a (better) college. Someone said something like "Yeah I had two premeds in my Intro Bio lab and they both made C's which changed their major..."

Here I am thinking "Oh wow I did worse than them......."

My whole day has been ruined by this.

I wish I could improve my earlier transcript all the time dude even though my cycle is going pretty well. It's normal.

It sounds like you're doing better now academically. You can use the MCAT to drive home the idea that you're capable for medical school. Keep focusing on that, and give it your best effort.

Might be a blessing in disguise. Medicine has turned into a **** profession.

I think about this ALL THE TIME. It really helps!

Thanks. Good luck man 🙂))))

That very well could change their major. I know my university bio department requires a 3.0 in the intro bio series and a 2.5 in all upper division bio classes. If you get anything less than a 2.0 in the intro bio series or a 1.7 in the upper division classes, the advisors in my bio department have the authority to drop you from the Biology department that you must formally appeal.

That could be what your friend meant. However, if you haven’t already, retake that intro bio class and do even better in subsequent upper division classes. One D won’t be bad so long as you did better the second time and it wasn’t a trend.

I think you need at least a C for most med schools so I’d retake it. Don’t worry about it overall gpa matters more than individual grades

A D in intro bio? Did you just not study?

As long as you realize that getting a D in intro bio isn’t just a fluke and something caused it.

Don’t worry because I had the same experience. I just hated BIO ever since high school because of a very bad teacher. English is not my first language too and taking bio at my university required a lot of short response. However I Aced Genetics, Microbio, and Quantum Mechanics. And when I retook Bio for the third time I received a B. For my other pre-reqs I have received B/A letter grade. I hope that shows I’m still capable.

I know people in medical school now with buffoonery such as this on their transcript. They recovered. It’s not a death sentence. Retake the class, and whatever you were doing then... don’t do it anymore.
