So does anybody think 1.25 hours is too far to commute to work...I'm think maybe nuclear if the hospital and jail things don't work out....but, man...I have to drive to Pittsburgh....
Hmmm...that is kind of far. But a few people @ work do the 1 h + commute. Once you're on call, they generally want you to be able to be there within 30 minutes. But you won't get to that point until you've completed AU training, etc...which won't be for a while. Would you be able to move closer to Pitt by next year?
I wouldn't suggest it. That commute time is too long. You might be able to pull off a 30 minute drive while keeping your sanity intact, but I wouldn't drive any longer. That 1.25 hours turns into 2.5 hours of missed: sleep, time with the wife, internet surfing, football games.
I did a 1.5 hour commute during my first year of pharmacy school. I had to wake up at 4:45 am, and I couldn't go to bed any later than 10 pm.
It's hard to get things done when you don't get home until 7 pm, so I would study at school or when my co-pilot was driving.
I totally forgot about the video game dude....thats funny...this dude was the biggest blackest thug you wouldn't want to deal with in the streets, throws down our onion rings and asks us if we play video games...amazingThat was only to celebrate his fabulous place-holder skills.
