Slickness, this is for you. . .

How is everyone doing--those of us who are applying to the state school and whatever out-of-state private school we think has a chance of accepting us?

I still have to word-process a few apps, get my picture taken 13 times, write a bunch of checks, finish the essays on 3 secondaries, and hunt down my graduate thesis advisor, who probably has no idea who I am.

Evil, evil secondaries. Tonight I had the pleasure of stamping 65 envelopes for my recommendation writers, except for that thesis advisor who is hiding from me.

But, only one more hoop to jump through after this.

So, when they ask if there is anything I'd like to add on the secondary, does it sound too desperate if I say that I've been working on this as hard as I can for five years?

Sound Off! How's the process going?

sweet.......a club i dont have to lie about myself to get in haha.

not that i would ever do that anyways 😉

so we just stick together and help each average student get into med school is the club mission?

cause im all up for that........

got done with my 35+ secondaries and so far just one interview at MSU.......

hope to get some cali ones before feb..........but thats just wishful thinking......

I finally got processed last Tuesday, and I need to get going on my secondaries. I've had a lot of practice time these last couple weeks, but now that I've caught up on schoolwork I can get moving on all of those apps. Here goes nothing.

I'm in, so I guess that means I'm out of the club🙁

I have an under average GPA and over average MCAT. Do these average out and make me average so that I can join the average applicant club. 😀

What are stats for an average applicant?😕

Banana Split

1. Has no intention of applying to Harvard because they know
they don't have a snowball's chance in hell, and have better
things to do with that money.

2. Science G.P.A. below 3.85

3. MCAT scores between 25 and 31, with no individual score
above 11

4. Does not have an Olympic gold medal in figure skater, has not
been published in "Nature", does not currently run the health
care system for a small nation.

5. Has the ultimate goal of just being a good doctor to their
patients.

Of course, some variations of this have been proposed.

greeeaaat, now we're institutionalizing mediocrity, sounds like the public education system in the U.S. (read the latest Harper's Monthly to know what I'm talking about)

ooo, I'm already feeling the controversy coming..

I'm applying to Harvard for precisely that reason!

Average does not equal mediocre.

We aren't celebrating mediocrity, we are celebrating the fact that we may not be superstar 4.0, 40+ applicants, but we will still become excellent doctors, and that we are supporting each other through this difficult endeavor.

Hmmm these are the stats eh? Lets see how I stack up!

Yeah, that and the fact I am not a huge fan of snow.

2. Science G.P.A. below 3.85

Yup, I qualify here as well.

3. MCAT scores between 25 and 31, with no individual score

Yup! I am here as well. My high bio almost kept me out.

4. Does not have an Olympic gold medal in figure skater, has not

I tried to take over a small nation with the help of two mice. One had a big head and the other was named...Pinky I believe. The big headed one kept saying something about world domination or something.

5. Has the ultimate goal of just being a good doctor to their
patients.
Heck yeah! I qualified! WOO HOO! This is cause for a nice cold one! Drinks on me!
