Anyone taking your MCAT in January and still applying for the 2013 cycle?

Your process will probably be way shorter than everyone else that is applying now. I can't imagine there is that many people applying in the dead center of the admissions process.

Well it all happened very quickly. I had finished my app so all I was waiting for was my mcat score. Once I sent out my app I heard in about 2 weeks

I contacted several schools in regards to a scenario like this. If you have a good GPA, PS and LORS they will still interview you since it's so early in the cycle. However yes, if you do get a low MCAT score they may or may not give you a conditional acceptance asking you to retake it depending on your other credentials.

I think I might want to do something like that too, I'm kinda nervous about applying semi late in the cycle...

In the realm that is podiatry I did fairly well on my Mcats a 28, my gpa was a little on the low side but I had no issues. I'm going to Barry in the fall too

No way, I had someone on here give me a few pointers when I was in your position. I'd love to give some help back. Message me all the questions you have. I haven't started yet so I don't have the insiders on Barry but I will in about a week and half!!

A 16 is really low so I can't say for sure. Best to contact the schools you're interested in and see what they say. Feel free to share the answer with the rest of the SDN community after to aid others with a similar question.

A 16 is low, but I think that you can def retake and do better if you study really hard the second time around or just get rid of the nerves and go into the exam with more ease.

Additionally, I agree with nikkisorous, I don't think it would hurt to contact the schools to want to attend and hear it straight from them. Just out of curiosity, where are your top choices? 🙂

Honestly i applied to 6 schools but i really only want to go to OCPM just because its closest to home, how about you? I applied to DO schools too, are you only applying to podiatry?

I'm only applying to podiatry schools, and my ideal is to be going to Barry U in Florida. Ohio was something that I was considering too because one of the recruiters came to my school and he sold me on how awesome the program was. Additionally, I've called OCPM a few times and everyone in the admissions office was really friendly, so that's always a plus. 🙂

That's insane!! Are you ready?

I asked Ohio questions regarding my personal stats and my likelihood of getting into the school. Essentially the MCAT score that I should be aiming for with the GPA that I have.

I was also extremely nervous when I took my mcat mid July. Make sure to eat a good breakfast, my stomach was growling when I got to the last section which was quite annoying. Also, try to just relax on Thursday, you're not going to learn much the day before and it'll just psych you out more.

I haven't received my score yet, but I am super worried. I did not come out of the testing center thinking I just aced the mcat (at all), like some of my friends did. I think I actually caught a glimpse of my future crumbling around me (lol) but I've heard that's normal too.

Deep breaths, "woooo sahhhh", and listen to "The World's Greatest" by R. Kelly. I know it's ridiculous, but it definitely works... at least for me .

My GPA is not too high so I have to do pretty high on my MCAT.
I know what you mean about the standardized tests though, those are not my forte but I think if you go into it being confident about what you know and calm, it'll def help.

In regards to the EC, they just mentioned some community service (aside from pod shadowing). From what I can tell, the MCAT seemed like the most important thing to them, not to say that the GPA or ECs are nothing to be concerned about. Hope that helps!!

Really?? Bc someone told me that got accepted the dean told her grades and ec's are more important versus the mcat. And whats ur gpa? I think my gpa will be higher with how the app grading scale works.

Let's just say that I need to do super well on my MCAT to go to where I want to go 🙂

I think at the end of the day, it all balances out.
If you have a good GPA you can have room to do mediocre on your MCAT, but in case its the other way around 😛
