I'm staying put at Arizona. My girlfriend is here. My family is here (well they are in Phoenix so same thing). Tucson is home to me, that's what I have realized in the past few weeks, as I have been struggling with some of these decisions. Plus, you can't beat the AZ lifestyle and weather  , so I am really happy. I'll graduate absolutely debt free and I will be buying a house here in Tucson. My parents are gonna buy me a new car for graduation! Any ideas on what I should get? :D Hehe, I know I know, tough life huh?

For those interested, I am asuming that a waitlist is looming from Columbia, and I have no idea what to expect from Sinai post-interview. Regardless of what happens though, I will be withdrawing from both these schools after I get the decisions in the mail (same goes for Pitt and Rochester). I've already withdrawn post-acceptance from NYU and Einstein. This long process has concluded as far as I'm concerned. It's about time!

My real purpose for posting was this - I want to thank all of you for the great advice and support over the course of the past several months. That includes, among others, MorningLight, Scooby, Coalboy, Trek, SMW, Foxy, Original, Kadyra, Joseph Reses, ewells, and many more that I am forgetting the SDN names of right now (sorry). But thanks again to everyone! :) I really feel like SDN is a great community, and I hope it retains that character. Good luck to all who are still waiting on schools and whatnot - I wish you all the best!

Awww...I wanted to see you in New York Jargon ..If I end up going there :)

Congrats on making a decision. But what if that envelope you get from Columbia is an acceptance???

Scooby I wish I would have had the chance to meet you as well. Perhaps someday, who knows - conferences, away rotations, etc. - perhaps our paths will cross...That goes for you too Katie - I wish I could have had the pleasure of shaking your hand. :)

If the envelope from P&S is an acceptance (and I don't think it will be), well then I will have the distinct pleasure of telling Dr. Frantz "Thanks, but no thanks." I gotta admit if would be a great feeling to be able to write that withdrawl latter. If it's a waitlist, I may go ahead and put myself on it, but I am 99.9% sure I wouldn't go anyway. :D Columbia is awesome, and I can't tell you enough how proud you should be (you and Katie both) to have been accepted. I just don't think it's for me though - in terms of lifestyle and personality and also financially I think AZ fits me better and I will be happy (if not happier) here.

Btw everyone - my real rame is Jay - so if you ever come across a tall, dark, and handsome UofA grad be sure to say hello! :D Man, I'm getting sentimental now...go figure...

Jay,
Congrats on your decision! It seems like a well thought out one. I'm sure you wouldn't regret. As for the car, I think I'll go with the new Bentley (j/k). Congrats men! You're a great guy.

Thanks Original! Although you have no need for it, good luck to you at Duke (if indeed that's where you're headed). As for the Bentley, I'll ask, but I'm pretty sure they were thinking of something in the "less than $250,000" range. <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Jargon, you the man, dude! It's been cool "hanging out" with you too. Maybe we'll all continue on the allo forum next year? --Trek

Yep! It's pretty much Durham for me. Except they send me a rejection. You never know, I just got rejected from a school I withdrew from 2 months ago. And I'll need all the luck I can get out there. If they can't do the Bentley, tell them you'll settle for a Rolls Royce out of the goodness of your heart. All we want is plenty, but we'll take more. Cheers men! keep around.

Stephen

Aw... thanks Jay. It's great you'll be staying here in Tucson. If the rest of us hear good news next month, this time you'll have to make it out and say hi to us while we are celebrating.

Congrats Jargon. It's a great feeling to know where you are going to be next year. I have decided to go to Penn State, even if I get into UofA, and have started withdrawing my other apps and interviews. My mother-in-law put it very well; sooner or later, you just have to stop shopping.

Jay, you're fantastic. I can't tell you how happy I am that you've come to a decision with which you're content! I know how dear your family and girlfriend are to you, and the thought of pursuing your dream with them by your side must be so wonderful. I must say that I will miss having you as a classmate. . . but you'd better keep in touch, and let us know when you're honored by the AMA. :)

Congratulations, Jay...I wish you all imaginable happiness!!!

Congrats Jargon! I'm sure you'll be happy with the people you love closeby.....I wish you the best of luck in the future!

Congrats on your decision :)

You people make me cry w/ all this love floating around here..

Way to go Jargon.... Not many people have the option to make choices like that....

Being happy is the most important thing--I think you made an excellent choice, jargon.

WAY TO GO!!

Rock on with your bad self! :)

Congratulations and good luck. Be sure to relax and enjoy any free time you have before school starts. And best of luck to your girlfriend at pharmacy school.

Cheers!

Ohhh...sniff sniff...this post is so nice:) That must be a really awesome feeling, having made your decision. It sounds like the right one:) Well good luck.

well, I guess another Katie on here got into Columbia, cause I sure didn't when I applied;) in fact, I didn't even apply there as a white female with below 30 on the MCAT. congrats on your decision; I would liked to have gone to my state school but alas it was not meant to be. However, I am happy in Boston, my parents are moving up here, Tufts has a great rep, and perhaps my luck will change on the bf scene (why should everyone else have all the luck? ) back to studying physical diagnosis for me.

That's sweeet! Congrats, Jargon, on making up your mind! It must be nice...
Now, as far as cars go...I'd say go for the Benz S500 and when you tire of it, throw it my way. Or, we can go down a step to the Lexus LS430...or we can go down another notch to the BMW 3 series...or go down another notch to the um....I don't know. Anyways, congrats!!! Best of luck to you at AZ! :)

Congrats Jargon! Make sure if you do get the fat letter from columbia you write "although I was strongly interested" or something about that level
Congrats again and as someone who has been in a split relationship for the last 7 years (which is now going nowhere), you are definately making the right decision!!!! Everytime you put your career in front of a relationship it just makes it harder the next time to reverse it!
