Has anyone heard back from Jefferson? I'll be applying this summer, so I was hoping to find out stats and hear about ur experiences. Thanks!

So, why so enthusiastic about JMC?

Its in Philly, a city I love. Their electives are awesome. When I visited, the students there were really chill and seemed to be like me. There is a huge addition project going on there. Another huge factor is that my state doesn't have a medical school, so jefferson is our "state" med school. It holds 20 spots a year for us. Also, you aren't too far from genos or pats! I do not really know how their "Early Decision" option works. Is it similar to undergraduate? Thanks!

I applied early there as my "token east-coast school," I received an interview invite for nov 1 and was accepted two weeks later. 32 mcat, 3.7 gpa. Very cool school, that I didn't really know much about prior to applying. Very laid back interview day where I got to meet a lot of my fellow interviewees as opposed to some other places, where it felt like tension was really in the air and the interviewees really never had a chance to relax and talk with one another. Plus, my student interview took place at Starbucks (no joke). The faculty interview was a bit short, but aside from that it did feel like the admissions staff tried hard to get to know the students there. Dr. Callahan the director of admissions made sure to stick around and personally meet the students who stayed for refreshments after the day was over.

Still waiting to hear from a couple other schools, but at the moment I think I might end up there.

If you apply, make sure to apply early. I was complete there with the release of August MCAT scores, which took place on October 14th, and haven't heard a thing from them since.

Probably true, but they do still get back to you. I was complete late September and have an interview scheduled.

When did you hear back about your interview?

This is not necessarily true. I was also complete with the August MCAT score release. They contacted me 10 days later and I have been accepted. My MCAT score was not nearly as impressive as Trismegistus4. A lot of what goes into getting an acceptance is standing out from the pack.

You'd think a 40 MCAT would stand out from the pack in his case!!! 👍

In my case, I've stood out for four schools so far (being granted interviews anyway), three of which are much more highly ranked than Jefferson. I don't think I received these invites because of my grades (which are on par or worse than their averages although my MCAT is 2-3 pts higher in each case). Instead, I've been fortunate in this cycle likely because of other things that are "unique" about my app, but no love from Jefferson as of yet (or ever) as an August MCATer (or from Temple or Drexel). With this in mind, I still think there is a certain amt of chance in this process. Either that or Philly just really collectively doesn't like my app (which is of course possible).

You must have held more Dead African Babies than I have. 😀
