I know this has been touched on in various threads, but so far I haven't found any answers. Does anyone know what Jefferson expects with recommendations?

Jefferson asks for the either:
1)Health Professions Committee letter
2)Recommendation Packet compiled by Advising Office
3)Individual faculty letters from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Humanities (1 letter from each required)

I kinda assume that the Recommendation Packet needs to consist of letters from these specific faculty members. But how serious are they about this? It seems like most applicants won't have all these letters covered. I know if you are "unable to supply the requested recommendations" you can write them a letter. But I get the impression that they expect you to get them somehow. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I thought the same thing that somehow if you don't get exactly their required (1 from each subject) letters, it may work against you even if you write them that request letter. So, I just called up the admissions office and asked them about making exceptions and they said that these things are expected and that if you subsititute one for the other, it does not put you at a competitive disadvantage.

Hope that helps.

I just found this to clarify things.

Q. Where do I send letters of recommendation?

A. The letters should be sent to Jefferson Medical College, 1015 Walnut Street, Suite 110, Philadelphia, PA 19107. If your college or university has a pre-medical advisory committee, it is recommended you utilize this service. If your school does not have a pre-medical advisory committee, you may submit individual recommendations from at least three instructors, two of whom should be in the sciences. They should be familiar with you and your work. The letters should be sent to Jefferson
.

So they want at least two science letters. But do they still want letters from faculty from different departments? I think I'm just gonna call them em and ask.

did you end up calling them? if so, what did they say? (if you dont mind telling us)

I got into jefferson last year pretty early on and I had all my LORS from science profs except 1 from my volunteer work. i didn't write them a letter to explain and they didn't ask. The only school which I didn't apply to because of the mandatory humanities letter is NYMC. they seemed not flexible. good luck!
