Did anyone else get this email from jefferson today asking you to submit your secondary online? Not only have I submitted a secondary, I interviewed there on 11/12. The thing is that I have been very anxiously waiting to hear a decision from them because it is one of my top choices. When I saw the email, I almost pooped in my pants. I feel like I am being toyed with.

Yep...I got the same email, but I haven't sent the secondary. I think it is their last effort to collect money. ForensicPath I hope you get that acceptance soon!🙂

yeah, i got that email too. i too already sent in my secondary and received word that my app was complete on 9/9...dunno what's going on...

I just got it as well.....strange thing is that I've already been accepted to its Class of 2008, haha.

I received it as well, even though I have been interviewed and they waitlisted. They have some nerve...

I was complete at the end of August, but only verified at the beginning of October and got the email. I called and they told me that it was an IT glitch and their computer peeps are looking into it.

It's definitely a glitch.

Jefferson usually tells you the decision very quickly, about 2-3 weeks after interview.

😕 Now I'm worried. I think I'm the only one who didn't get that email!

I got the email and of course called. The lady was a tad rude, but since so many people got it I am sure she was annoyed at this point. She trailed off without even asking my name saying "yeah its a mistake...bye" before I could even respond LOL. Oh the life of an admissions receptionist/secretary or whatever she was. Definitely sounded like she needed a drink..

Ah well...I was briefly excited as I wanted to hear word about an interview invitation...hopefully next time.

KarateGirl, I didn't get the email either, even though I've already submitted my secondary.

I have another question for all you Jefferson applicants. Did you get notified when your application was complete, or did your status page change at all? My status page says that my secondary, fee, LOR's, and primary are all in, but I never got an email or anything telling me it is complete.

I submitted my secondary the first week of august and got the interview invite (for november) via email during the first week of september.

Jeff called me less than a week after my interview to accept. I am also not what you would call an optimum candidate. What mattered is that I really wanted to go to jeff and told them several times. If you want to get in and haven't yet, send a letter of intent; I think it will make a difference. Namedrop too. 'Don't know if it helped, but I namedropped quite a bit.

hey Supadupafly:

congrats on your acceptance! What do you mean about namedropping - do you mean about other schools you were accepted to or do you mean people there who you know? Just curious. congrats again!

I have a family alum (very distant) and a close friend who goes there. Basically, I related how they both recommened the school and how I spoke to a residency director who told me he considered Jeff to be right up there with JHU, P&S, HU, and UCSF (true story).

Hey~

I was planning on sending a secondary to Jefferson, and my school doesn't do the committee letter thing, so I am supposed to send four letters: 1 bio, 1 chem, 1 physics, 1 humanities....

I don't have a letter from a physics prof, and at this point, I wonder if I should just send in the 3 letters I have (plus one from my PI where I did clinical research for two years) and complete the secondary. If I'm going to be rejected right off the bat for not having a letter from a physics prof, I don't want to spend the $100...

any advice would be appreciated... thanks 🙂

Soccrtrela,

As usual, just call them up and ask. I've heard through the grapevine that they really don't care. Just tell them that you lost contact with your Physics professors. You'll be fine.

On another note, what happens on the Jefferson status page if they invite you for an interview? There doesn't seem to be any catagory for interview invitavtion or anything.

The page says if you've been invited, but it takes a few days to catch up. They'll invite you by email. They also change it after you've attended the interview.

They interview once a week on Wednesdays.

Like one of the posters above said, if you want a Jefferson acceptance keep in constant contact with Dean Callahan. She's awesome and very responsive. Clinically, Jefferson has a very strong reputation and with the most living med school alumni, it boasts a very strong network. Maybe I'm biased cuz I am from this area 😉, but Jefferson is a VERY well respected school IMHO.

edited to add--woops! I thought the status page didn't change, I guess I didn't pay close attention, my bad!

Just ask them if you can send in different letters, I'm sure it'll be ok!

How do you feel about academics at Jefferson? I've heard that one reason they are respected by residency programs is that they are among the toughest, in terms of curriculum.

I guess I should have sent a letter expressing my interest in Jeff shortly after the interview. Its been almost a month and no word. I guess I should hope for a waitlisting instead of a rejection.

Usually if you are waiting more for a letter more than month after the interview more than likely you'll be wait listed. Jefferson has a tendency to send acceptance letters after interviews usually no later than 4 weeks post interview. However, sometimes it takes a while in the mail. When I got accepted there, my letter was postmarked 2 weeks before I got it, and I live in central PA, not Japan!

All the same, remember Jefferson doesn't interview many people, compared to alot of other schools. Chances are, if you hang in there, you'll get in; especially come May. I'd still send the letter of intent. Maybe wait until sometime in the spring when people start declining acceptances for elsewhere.

If you do get in, I look forward to being your peer. I've seen alot of your posts and you seem to have a good outlook.

If you guys are seriously interested in Jeff, the poster who said to call Callahan was right. If you do a search on it you can see the waitlist people from last year - most who called got in, mostly from the high priority but a lot from the regular waitlist as well. They like people who like them... especially Callahan - she really loves the school and I think she wants her students to love it as much as she does.

Bumping because I loooove Jefferson... this will, without doubt, piss some people off.

Anybody else just super excited about Jeff?

supadupafly,
I've sent you a couple of pm's. check ur pm box.

Thanks.

Is the status page typically a little slow? My LoR went out on 11/25 and it's still listed as not having been received.

Seems like quite a delay, but it is holiday time. Call the office & see if they have it. If not, ask if you can have copies faxed from your school (& have your school mail another hard copy).

It is official, I am on the waitlist. Looks like I will be bombarding them with some more LORs, grade updates, and general expressions of interest.
