what is the worst job hazard?? i could only see being a gi doc, and someone farting bloody stool in your face and they had hep b or c or something...

As long as you're careful, AIDS is easy to avoid. Universal infection control procedures will keep it from spreading. That's not to say accidents don't happen, but they're usually the result of inattention or other negligence.

assaulted by coworker, patient or family member
back injury from lifting
wrist injury from charting

general mental health problems

carcinogenic or hazardous chemicals (chemotherapy, disinfectants, sterilizing agents)

my resident actually told me a sad story about that last entry (elevator mishap)....apparently a japanese intern was running to catch an elevator as the door closed and his HEAD got stuck in between the door....for some reason the sensors didn't work, it remained clamped on his head and when the elevator moved he ended up getting decapitated....sounds like an urban legend, but a few interns told me it was true....kinda scary...makes you almost not want stick your hand out the next time you run for an elevator or when someone asks you to hold the elevator
