What is the job outlook for someone with an MPH and DVM?

You may want to check out Elliott Garber's site. I'm a big fan. He'll tell you all about the awesome opportunities available to dual degree holders 🙂

Definitely check out the blog and scope out the interviews. He's met with some really cool people who are doing really cool things.

What do you want to do? You're question is very simplistic so it's hard to say. Any job period? Pretty decent. If you don't want to work for the government, it's going to quickly become a lot more limited I would think.

Hey, thanks for sharing kernel --- I'm glad it's been helpful.

The job outlook for someone with a DVM and MPH is quite good, but it's definitely getting more competitive.

There are now so many combined DVM/MPH programs at vet schools around the country compared to 10 years ago when I was applying to schools. A lot of vets with MPHs go on into regular clinical practice, but they'll always have that extra degree which kind of acts as a ticket into the vast world of public health.

All states and many big cities have veterinarians on staff in their public health departments, and there are tons of federal jobs as well. The hardest thing for DVM/MPHs is when they have geographical restrictions that prevent them from going to where the jobs are, which is usually big cities or university towns.
