My research interests are equine internal medicine and endocrinology, specifically Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS), Equine Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID), Insulin Dysregulation (ID), and the use of thyroxine (synthetic T4) in horses. Currently applying to NC State 1st time IS and haven't decided where else I will apply this cycle 🙂
 
oh nice! I’m interested in the clinical applications of drug delivery, imaging, and ML for oncology. And I’m also applying to NCSU and like twelve other programs
 
Hi Guys! I'm excited that you made this thread. I'm also applying IS to NC State 1st time, as well as a few other schools this cycle. I'm interested in wildlife-livestock interactions and disease transmission.
 
Hi! I’m a first time applicant applying DD to some OOS schools on my list. I’m mostly interested in mixed animal pharm/tox right now.

That is an awesome interest! Seems super relevant with the looming H5N1 concerns. Is that what you are currently working on?

I've done some work with avian IBV, which I think would translate very well into IAV research. But the majority of my research is with bacterial infections rather than viral infections. I'd really like to work more with mammals in the future, though.

I got a dual degree interview invite last week 🙂 The regular SVM invites haven’t come out yet. I am an incoming applicant, not a current vet student!

They updated their website? Doesn't it sound like the VSTP admissions is now separate from the DVM? Did they send out all interviews yet, if yk?

VSTP apps are reviewed by a completely separate committee than SVM apps (but VSTP can see your SVM app during review as well). Any VSTP interview offer also grants an SVM interview offer to my understanding. All VSTP invites have been sent out according to the SVM announcement

hi, not a phd/dvm dual degree but another dual degree at CSU offering my 2 cents. CSU is conducting interviews for everyone this year, so maybe the timeline will change for everything. i know students are off this week but some staff are still working. also, both PhD/DVM students that were accepted last year are in my year 0 cohort, i can ask them when they heard back for interviews last year if that helps anyone.

I haven’t gotten anything from CSU yet either but also I’m a Canadian applicant (wish we had DVM PhD programs here!!), so I’m just keeping my hopes up!
 
I got an email from NCSU saying "Thank you for your application to NC State's combined DVM/PhD program for Fall 2026. A decision is noted in the attached letter."

But there's no attached letter!!! Has anyone gotten anything?
 
I got an email with a letter saying I didn’t get in. I’m confused bc I made all the suggestions that were shared with me last year. It also has the wrong year on it

That's so strange. I hope you didn't actually get rejected and they just sent it by accident.

If we do get rejected from the DVM-PhD this early, do you think we'll hear about the DVM results with the OOS people (assuming we're OOS)?
 
I too was rejected and there were a few typos in my letter as well. Still holding out hopes for the DVM at least

I also got the rejection letter (with the typos) 😢. I think we will be considered with the DVM-only pool and be on the same timeline as them now, both OOS and IS.
 
This is so weird. You’re IS and based on their student body, they have a slight preference for NC residents. Also last year, rejections came after interviews from the CBS/CVM email, not the [email protected] email. So I’m hoping it’s a automated system error since the email came at 5 pm sharp #staydelulu

Haha, yeah I'm still holding on to a tiny tiny sliver of delusional hope. But, it is what it is, we'll see what happens with the DVM-only results.
