Jobs during winter break

I haven't worked in a pharmacy before. Are there any pharmacies that might have jobs available for me during my winter break? I think you need to train for two weeks for a Walgreens job and they said they won't be doing that right now, so I guess they are out of the picture.

It'd be a lot easier if you had worked for the company beforehand; I was offered christmas time at a pharmacy where I had worked during the summer as people are trying to get time off and an extra employee would help.

With that being said if you haven't worked in one before it's going to be more difficult unless you want to continue working with them (ie 5-10hrs/week) during school, because it is expensive to train a new employee - very much so if they'd ditch the store in 3 weeks 😛.

If I were in your position i'd call around to the different chains and be upfront about my situation and see how that works. If you need money i'd look elsewhere. Most people here would agree from the first time you ever step foot in a pharmacy until when you actually feel somewhat competent and able to help without asking questions every 2 minutes is a period of at least a couple of weeks.

Well, ironically I got a job at Walgreens! All I have to do is take a drug test, some computer training, and I'm good to go. Woohoo!

Yeah, I'm going to keep working after break. I need the money. I wouldn't do something like that to good ol' Walgreens...or would I?

Pharmacy staffs aren't really prone to seasonal hiring. It's just a question of whether a job is open at the time you inquire. At some retail places getting pharmacy workers through orientation is difficult over the holidays, as the HR people give the incoming seasonal folks priority. At other ones it's easier because they are having orientation meetings more frequently.

In my area, the script count goes up from Oct-March. I got hired in december 3 years ago, and we are getting a new hire in the next week or two.

i know this is random, but how much do intern pharmacists get paid? $15/hr? $20/hr? I haven't worked either but i too am about to get a job.

Ok, I completed the drug test and now the training coordinator for Walgreens called me and wanted to meet at the store and "talk". Does this mean it's going to be an interview or he just wants to get to know me better?
