July 12 a good time to write the dats?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you should be fine from what i hear. I'm doing July 1st = DAT. Not a big difference from you.👍

would taking the exam in july be much worse than taking it in late may/June, or no difference in terms of "lateness"?

I hear that on July 14 they give out ONLY the easy versions of the DAT...

I think July 11th might be better... 7/11 has a better ring that 7/12

Would it be better to submit our app on June 1st and wait for DAT scores or to submit the app after DAT results in July as a complete application?

Submit app as close to June 1st as possible. Once you take the DAT, enter the scores in AADSAS, and if you want to expedite review of your app, maybe you could fax the unofficial score report they give you at the testing center to your dschools.

i talked with the admissions guy at my local dental school, and he said it was just fine to take the dat ~1 month after you submit your application. the reason being that it takes a month or so from the time you submit for your application to actually get to the school, so by the time they get it your dat scores will be ready. ask them if they'd like you to fax your unofficial scores over, some do some don't.

take it in early june that way you can take it again in August if you do bad and still apply on time for this cycle.

THat is really great. I took mine in September and I do not recommend that

im sorry this is a little off topic, BUT I was just wondering if the OP is Canadian by any chance... its just that I don't really hear too many people saying that they have "written" an exam unless if they are from Canada or another country outside of the USA..
