Verbal 437/94
Biology 425/84
RC 431/94
QC 413/72
CHY 415/72
Composite 424/ 90

So I was SHOCKED by these scores today! I took a practice test and got much lower. The only thing I am concerned is that verbal and RC cushioned my score. I dont really want to retake because I could do worse like i did on the practice, but I was just looking for interpretation/what you think I should do ?

I do not have any tips other than to read on a more frequent basis. I was lucky growing up because my dad is a english genius so he used bigger words when he talked lol. Read articles, journals, etc (I read about 1-2 a day) to gain context of what the words mean. As far as practicing for harder words, do not use kaplan- I found those too easy. There is a book called mastering the pcat that I found to be close to the actual.

So I had my test this afternoon and I just completely bombed reading comp and verbal.

I hadn't really looked at verbal or reading until briefly the night before and that's what really killed me. I just totally miscalculated my timing. I think I'll try retesting in one of the Sept. dates if I can get a spot.

Scores were:
Verbal 409/63
Bio 484/99
Reading 392/36
Quant 420/82
Chem 422/81
Composite 425/91

I was really hoping to do well since I want to apply to Michigan. Would they even consider such a low score for one of the subtests though?

From what I have read they mainly look at the composite. They will see a score they like, and put you in the interview pile. From there, they will offer and interview and after that they will put all components together and look at the subscores. I know how you feel though. I got a 90, but I want to go to UNC- chapel hill- the second best in the country! So I do not know

I'm also going to try there, but I doubt they'll consider me. I'm going to apply to University of Arizona and Midwestern too since I'm from AZ. Besides my score though, I think I'd be a good candidate.

I heard Michigan is really interested in what their candidates score on the chemistry and biology section so ou should be golden.

Also, you guys are crazy for considering a retake if you get a 90!

Yeah, I know I sound a little crazy asking, but I am a little worried about myself since I did significantly worse in two of the subjects.

Awesome scores! I feel ya, I'm in the same boat. I took my test today for the first time and got these scores:

Verbal: 432/91%
Biology: 411/63% (not bad for no A&P and micro)
Reading Comprehension: 399/49% (still feel hurt because that was my best section on all my practice tests)
Quantitative Ability: 416/77%
Chemistry: 434/91%
Composite: 82%

Really hope I don't have to retake it just because of the reading. I hope you don't have to retake it for the same reason, especially with a 91%!

Judging by what some are saying so far, hopefully I won't since it's not weighted as highly? But I'm sure a score that low in comparison to my composite would raise some questions.

I definitely regret not studying reading or verbal now...and misjudging my timing...

These were my scores:

Verbal: 91
Biology: 84
Chemistry: 76
Reading: 68
Quantitative: 85
Composite: 87

As you can see I struggled with reading as well so you really shouldn't feel bad about it. Based on everyone's posts on here it seems like the majority also did poorly on reading. I took six practice exams with reading in it and scored in the 90s on each one; and three of them were Pearsons practice tests! So preparing didnt do much for reading, I felt like the passages were more biased than factual so it was difficult to answer the questions. Especially when you're deciding which would add the stronger evidence to a passage, scientific or emotional? To me, that's an opinionated question. But regardless, we all did great and we should celebrate! Btw I'm applying to Michigan too as one of my schools

I took my pcat yesterday, and got horrible result: 29 :scared: , the only part I did ok is chem with 78 %. I'm been studied for 1,5 months. I only have my AS on biology, GPA :3.818, sGPA >3.818. All my courses took at community college. Please give me some feedback, I'm just losing a lot of hope after the test :scared:.

PS: I also volunteer at pharmacy setting for 1 year, and working in Dr.office for 3 years.

Thanks everybody!

Did you cheat yourself in your courses? Because you have a high GPA and a very low PCAT. You need to retake the PCAT and take is serious the next time. It doesn't matter if you took your courses at a CC you SHOULD be learning the same material unless you or your professor cheated you on teaching the material. Good luck.

It gets annoying seeing people who post great PCAT scores and they ask if they should retake.
I know my score was great and I shouldn't be asking about retaking, but some of the schools I'm looking at have a minimum requirement for the subscores. That is the only reason why I am asking. I know that schools look at composite and the bio, chem, and quant scores more than the others.

If you are unsure then why wouldn't you contact the schools directly? None of us are admissions advisors. If a school has a minimum on each subtlest then contact them, see if you fall in the range and if you don't they will tell you whether you need to retake it or not.

My opinion to all those negative nancys out there is if you dont like the post, go to another discussion. We are asking because we have some dream schools that we would love to get into and are just asking others for advice. If you didnt do as well, you can post in here as well. Judgement free zone

The PCAT is only one step on the long application process. And it may not be as weighted as much like alot of prepharmacy students like to think.

please give tips on how to study for verbal ability. beside on more practicing. any website you found that helped the most?
Depending on how good you are at memorization, I used a set of flash cards that came with my Kaplan materials and found it helped a fair amount. Also, reading a lot helps, and as pompous at it sounds, incorporating some of those words in conversation (whenever applicable, of course) helped me the most. Lastly, Verbal Ability, IMO, is more about understanding the relationships between the words in question rather than the actual definition of the word. Yes, in sentence completion, the meaning of the words are really important, but the words have a definite relationship between them and knowing the types of possible relationships (form and function, opposites, etc.) will help tremendously. Hopefully that helps!

Hi, Would you guys suggest if I should take the PCAT exam again? My score is as follow:

Bio 97
Chem 93
Quant 77
Verbal 68
comprehension 7 :scared: ( this is ridiculous.)
composit 79 only

Will my 7 score on comprehension prevent me from going to pharmacy school?
I am wondering if U of M pharm sch and Roseman accepts this scores?

Top schools aren't going to care if you got an 80 or a 99 on the PCAT. They're looking at the whole package.

Miscer: Michigan considers people with a 50 composite so I'm sure you'll be fine if you have a 91 composite and a little blemish on your sub-score. The interview is way more important than your PCAT score.

Agreed.
