hi guys, i know some people are still waiting for their Jan's Pcat score..It's early to think about June's Pcat score..I'm alternate list for some schools and I'll not done yet with my interiviews, but I'm thinking in case (please don't) I won't be accepted anywhere, I will need to take June Pcat...ANyone going to take it???

secondly, I don't know why but my CHEMISTRY section is killing me, I usually got around 60% ...Any advice on that?? like what books to review? I review Pcat's stuff from Kaplan's material and some stuffs from school...But I heard different things like books from Priceson, for DAT, MCAT..which makes me even more confused!! 😕 Any input in this will be great!! thanks guys and I hope you guys did fine on your Jan's Pcat

Just redo the problems in your G-chem book and O-chem book. Nothing better than rehashing the old fashioned way.

First, try to remember to remember what seemed to be a struggle for you in the chemistry section (not familiar with some of the things presented, not enough time to finish the section, etc. etc.). Then, try to focus on studying and improving those particular areas.

Second, the Kaplan book should be enough to give you a thorough review of general chemistry (the Kaplan book is actually a bit of an overkill in how in depth they go into topics, IMO). I'm not sure how much organic the new edition covers, but you may need to seek other sources for an organic review.
Using books geared towards other entrance examinations can help you, but it can also present more material than you actually need for the PCAT itself.

Good luck studying if you decide to take it again!

The chemistry section to me felt like 50% stoichiometry and conversion to product. The orgo was nomenclature and simple "which is a good nucleophile/electrophile" stuff.

I liked 5 steps to a 5 AP chemistry by Moore and Langley.
I paid $16.95 at Borders.
It has a timeline and a list of frequent student mistakes.

Not doing well can have more to do with test taking. If you are unfamilir with material then go thru chem I and II and basic o-chem. Thats it just basics like nomencalature and orgo I rxn. Try practicing that section under time constraint and see how well you do. It might have to do with timing or misunderstaidng questions.
